How soon after your child felt better
did you resume normal eating?
DS was sick last week vomiting with a stomach virus. He was better on Thurs. and then sick again on Friday because my mother gave him yogurt. Since Sat. he hasn't thrown up or had a fever. DS is clearly showing signs of hunger and we're slowly reintroducing food back into his diet. I've begun to give him watered down bottles again.
I guess my question is when is it ok to feed him what he ate before he got sick (like dairy?)
TIA!

Re: How soon after your child felt better
DS just had this as well. Ped said to resume solid food once they have not vomited for more than 6 hours. Then start with bland foods, BRAT diet, and work your way up. I'm sure he'll be fine if he hasn't vomited since Saturday. He probably is hungry. Start with something like a banana.
I HATE this stomach virus thing!

I would follow his cues and let him eat what he seems to want.

Sean had it as well - I was giving him bland stuff, whatever he would eat. No dairy, no crazy food -
Rice, Bananna, Applesauce (the Ped said this was good, I was ) I gave him a plain waffle .........

Re: How soon after your child felt better
Thanks everyone. DS is getting bored with bland food. Maybe I'll try to give him some more "regular" food since he hasn't vomited since Sat.

I think that's okay, I would just stick with veggies and non-diuretic fruits (like no prunes ) at first, and avoid too much dairy as well.
