How soon did you get AF after you stopped BFing?

Hi.

I stopped breast feeding my son on August 18 after slowly weaing for a whole month. I'm currently taking the mini-pill (progestin only) for birth control. I have the regular birth control pill prescription filled now that I stopped BFing. I wanted to wait until I got a real period before taking it, but how long does it usually take to come back? I could just take the regular pill and it should come back after first pack, but I wanted for it to come back "naturally" first. Plus, because I'm the hugest worry wart ever, I'm afraid of unknowingly beging pg and started the other pills. I've been nausaus and dizzy the past week (took 2 negative tests by the way) and now I'm worried I could be pg. I've been taking the mini-pill so the chances of me being pg are only like 2%, but I am so worried! I've been spotting the past week, which I keep thinking is the start of AF, but the mini-pill also has made me spot since I've been taking it.

How soon after you stopped BFing did your AF come back? Was it normal? Did it take forever to start - meaning spotting for a week or so first?

I can see why you're concerned- you have a lot going on right now! To answer your question, I got my first AF while I was still BF (only once a day though) at 10 months. I decided not to go on the mini pill at all. The hormones with BCPs really screw with my body. Since my first AF, I am totally regular now. Good luck.

It took 3 weeks after I stopped BFing for AF to arrive.

Everyone is different. I was still BFing when my AF returned at 8 months PP.
