How to break a bad habit
DS is 9 months old and has gotten into the habit of going to sleep with a bottle. It started during one of the heat waves we had when I was sick and there were a few times I had to put him to bed with a bottle. I was able to go back to giving him a bottle before bed and putting him in the crib when he fell asleep. Now I am finding it impossible to get him to wind down for his night time bottle. I have tried to hold him in the chair and lay in bed with me, but he wants nothing to do with it. As soon as he goes in the crib, he calms right down and drinks the bottle. It has also been happening during some of his naps. I know he is teething really bad, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it...I don't want this to become a daily affair as it can lead to problems down the road... Any BTDT Moms or any ideas?

I can't be the only one who put their DC to bed with a bottle!

Re: How to break a bad habit
I saw your post late last night... but I had the same issue going on in my arms so I coudln't write back. LOL. DS is just about 6 months old, and I have the same issue. What I have been doing lately to help try to break the habit is using the faster flow nipple for his last bottle... and when he starts to doze off, I will start to take it out of his mouth. He'll wake up and look around like, why are you doing that. Then he'll go back to drinking normally. I will continue that the rest of the time. Then I give him his raggie, and cuddle it next to his face...as his eyes start to roll back. So I put him in his crib, rub his back and usually I get about 5 mins of complaints, but now he goes right to sleep. if we get home late or he had a busy day, then I let him just go straight to bed with a bottle... but I am trying to keep to my guns and nt let him do that. Good luck! HTH
