How to get rid of a sore throat?
I am starting to have a bad sore throat....
what can i do to stop this??

I have no suggestions. 
I'm on day 9 of sore throat, can't swallow or anything. I've been taking 3 extra strength tylenols (1500 mg) every 4 hours, but I can't do this much longer or I'm going to rip my stomach to shreds.
I think I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow for an appointment, I hope he's in.

Riccola Honey & Lemon drops!!! I start sucking on them as soon as I feel a sore throat coming on and it's gone within a day. LOOOOOVE those things!

What always works for me-- gargle with peroxide and water mixed, then immediately follow that with listerine, then brush your teeth. Do this morning and night, and within a day or two, it should be almost gone.

YES.
This is the best way - I still do this to this day and the sore throat NEVER lasts more than a day or two - and it is a lot less severe too!
The salt kills the bacteria in your throat - it works wonders.

Ugh - I only slept 2 hours last night.
My right gland is so swollen if I turn my head to the right I feel like I'm closing my airway.... I can't wait till 9am to call for an appt or find some urgent care center somewhere.

Hot tea w/ lemon and honey - no sugar or milk. Try to stay away from dairy, I think it makes it worse. If your nose is stuffy and you are sniffling a lot, sometimes that drips in the back of your throat and causes sore throats so try to boil a pot of water and put your face over it with a towel and let the steam open up your sinuses (but of course be careful, don't get burned!)

this sounds like you have either strep throat or tonsillitis. Swollen glands usually means there is a bad infection. If you've had a sore throat for more than a week, you probably need an antibiotic. Also, could be snius infection... post-nasal drip can give you a NASTY sore throat.
for relieft in te mean time, garle with warm water and salt. sounds gross, but it works!
oh, FYI: my BIL in though found the DP jersey for my husband.... they exchanged last night-- he loves it! (I was the one that posted for help in trying to find one!)

My mom still suggests that when I have a sore throat...
I would take a pain killer (advil tylenol etc.) and some tea!

Holly, I hope it isn't this bad for you. I'd give you a huggy smiley but then I'd give you strep.

Strep===yuck!!
Hope you are feeling better when the antibiotics kick in! My sore throat is not so bad now, but my nose is runny & I am all stuffy now

SUX being sick during the holidays!
Good, maybe it was only temporary for you.
I'm still in a bad way - I only just took my second antibiotic a couple of minutes ago. It's so difficult - they are so big they are like horse pills. Umm, hello I can't swallow anything here!! Plus I need to take with food or I'll get sick - but I can't swallow that either.
Doctor said come back in 14 days - 'hopefully' it will be gone by then. If it lasts that long....
