how to keep your cat from scratching furniture
One of our cats loves to stretch and scratch to sharpen his nails. Dh and I recently moved and bought new furniture and Im starting to see little nail marks in the corners of the couch. Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas that have worked and kept the cat from scratching furniture? I want to nip this in the bud before his claw marks get worse and the furniture is ruined within a month. Please do not recommend declawing - we would never consider that as an option.

the only thing that worked for my cat was large clear double sided tape. i put it on the corners of the couch arm that he would scratch & he stopped.

get a water spray bottle and turn the nozzle to the sharpest spray. Anytime you catch him doing it, spray him with the water...it will startle him and soon he will associate scratching the furniture with getting sprayed!
