How to re-train my dog to NOT get on the bed??
Our first baby is due in the spring and since we got married 2 years ago, my dog has been allowed on our bed. (Prior to that she lived with me and was NEVER allowed on the bed).
Now that the baby is coming, we want to train her to not go on the bed anymore. I thought we should start re-training her at the beginning of the year so we have time to get her trained before baby comes, and so that she doesn't associate the change with the baby.
Any tips on how to do this??? My DH goes to bed before me and when I go in the room to sleep, she comes in with me and immediately jumps on the bed. I think it will be very hard to re-train her since I can't really tell her over and over to get down at that point since it will wake up my DH.
Would appreciate any help!! Thanks!

all i did was everytime they jumped on the bed, i pulled them off and told them no. even in the middle of the night if i felt one of them come up, i would get them off. it took a while but they got the message, with the exception of one of them. still working on this. pretty stubborn, this one.

we did the same thing. everytime our dog jumped on he was told no and got put on the floor. one time he refused and kept jumping on the bed so we put him the cage overnight. we have a bed for him on the floor that he loves

I would definitely make sure your dog has a nice doggie bed on the floor and teach them to sleep on that instead. It is always good to offer an alternative instead of just saying "no, you can't sleep on the bed anymore." It's easier to understand, "no, you don't sleep on the bed anymore, you sleep here."

Thanks everyone. My dog actually has a reallllly nice bed on the floor next to our bed - she sometimes gets down at some point in the middle of the night to go to her own bed. I guess I just need to teach her that's her only sleeping option.

Your DH is going to have to deal with you telling her "no" when she jumps on the bed at night.
