Honestly she is going in to K- why would I even care who her teacher is? I don't know them for a hole in the wall. They can right she has Mrs. Smith vs Mrs, Jones and I'd be like ok, so?
It's not like I know any of the kids in the school yet to go texting other moms (not to mention I really don't talk to many other moms or even have their phone #)
I don't' think they will tell us ahead of time anyway. I get nothing from my school

Am I supposed to know who these teachers are?
Like that one is better than another? How would I even know once they tell us?

You wouldn't know until the year progresses. To be honest I wouldn't get caught up in the hype / politics of the teachers at the school. I think parents get nutty with that crap.
My son had an awesome K teacher, to me atleast. Parents thought she was too strict. In first grade, he supposedly has the better teacher, which to me wasn't fair assumption because the other teacher was new. Anyway, I didn't like her. She was a good teacher just not a good match with my son. He needs someone stern. As long as my kid is learning and not being treated unfairly, I'm fine with any teacher. Just my advice!

Yeah that is what I meant. I am not sure why everyone is so curious to see who their kid's teacher is. Unless you have experience with that teacher from prior children in their class, how would you even know. To me it's just going to be a name- i know NOTHING of any of the teacher's at DD's school.

There are lots of reasons why a parent would be curious. Many of the reasons are good, for example, being excited for your kid to have a teacher you've already had experiences with or wondering if your kid will be with a BFF. Some reasons aren't great, like if your child's most recent teacher has moved to the next grade up and you're praying he doesn't have her, like I'm doing.

I'm curious to know who her teacher is so I can continue prepping her for Kindergarten, and so I can find out if any of the other kids we know will be in her class. I think I will help smooth the transition for my DD.

Yeah. I think they have us come the day before to drop off the supplies and meet the teacher. ( i have to look into that) I think that is better than just telling her a name that means nothing to her. I have no idea if any of the K teachers are better than the others and we know nobody in the school so i know she won't know any kids in her class anyway.

Can I ask how this worked out for your DS? I feel like I'm probably over thinking this, but I just met the teacher, and she's never been full-time, she has been a sub off and on, because she took a lot of time off to be a SAHM. I feel like it probably won't matter since it's only kindergarten, but I feel like she had no time to prep, and since she doesn't have full time experience she probably needed ample time to prep.

I didn't either when my son started two years ago, he was new and didn't go to pre-k there or how siblings. So classmates weren't a concern for me and even now or last year, idc what friend he has in class. I feel like he can make new friends and it's less of a distraction.
I loved his K teacher and everyone complained how strict she was. People were and a going crazy if their kid wasn't in my son class last year (1st grade) and although she was a good teacher, I just didn't see all the hype. Maybe it's my sons school but the craziness over who had which teacher and got placed in which class was ridiculous.

People care because everyone wants the best experience for their young child. Some teachers are more warm and loving, some stronger academically etc. yor child can leave kindergarten having learned ALOT and having wonderful memories or learning nothing with a nervous tick LOL. You might not have found out about the teachers before hand but many parents do. Many schools even allow you to write placement letters requesting a particular type of teacher.

I want the best teacher for her tool, but how am I supposed to know ANYTHING about these teachers? Do they have Yelp reviews somewhere?
How would I know if one is good, or bad, etc- if this is the FIRST experience I am having with the school? So they can send me a letter today saying your teacher's name is Mrs. Smith. How will I know if that is good or bad? That is my question. And my second question- let's say, by osmosis or a Yelp review, I find out that Mrs. Smith is horrible. Then what? I complain and bytch and ask her to be moved from the class? 2 weeks before school starts? What if every parent did that? Then what? Do the districts even entertain stuff like this? Maybe that is why they don't send out the teacher names ahead of time. To avoid all the complainers.
Maybe I'm just too laid back though.

Yes, at this point probably too late but for kindergarten not necessarily. However like I said in our district u can Write letters in April describing the type of teacher that would work best for your child. Not always honored but for kindergarten usually is. How would you find out- ask around, didnt u have a tour or orientation and or screening for your child? Opportunities at all of these to find out. Not an issue of too laid back or not- you have to do what works for u. There is no right or wrong. Everyone is different and every child is different. If being laid back works for u and your child there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Was just putting info out there in case you truly weren't aware of all of the above. But, from the snarkiness I'm assuming you don't care either way lol.

Didn't mean to be snarky. That's just my humor. I got her teacher in the mail yesterday and I really have no clue if this woman is good, bad or otherwise. We had orientation in May - all the teachers stood up and said hello, and their name. It was very hard to tell from that 2 minute intro who would be good or bad. I have the name now, but can't for the life of me remember which of the 3 she was. I can't remember what any of them look like to be honest. I doubt that any are bad. How bad can they be? I have to trust my district and school employees good teachers. What else can I do? Plus , it's Kindergarten. Important, yes but I doubt anyone failed in life due to a bad K teacher. I'm sure all the kids will do fine. We'll see mid year what i think of her. For now, I give her the benefit of the doubt and don't stress.
