HSG- i need to know, pls
I need to know if you took advil before and/or after the procedure. If yes, how much? Thanks, i am going tomorrow and of course can not get an answer from my RE

I didn't take anything. I had sever pain during the HSG, but it only lasted 30-45 seconds. I had heavy AF like cramping after, but not for too long.

I didn't take anything either. I agree with PP I had horrible cramping while they injected the ink, but it lasted a minute or so. I didn't have any cramping or bleeding afterwards.
Just an FYI, try to keep a pad/pantyliner on for awhile afterwards. They gave me this diaper looking thing. I thought I didn't need it, I took it off, and then I feel gush. It was all the dye. It ruined my undies and jeans.

you can take it before-but the cramping isnt that bad if they dont have to inflate the balloon much and once they do its not that that bad...maybe a period cramp times 5 for like a minute the its gone...dont worry about it...are you going to zilkah???

I took 3 advils. I had minimal cramping during the procedure. It's really not that bad. Good Luck tomorrow.
PS. Definitely bring a panty liner.

I took 2 aleve beforehand and didn't feel a thing.

I took 3 advil before and I still had horrible cramping and spotting afterwards. They also found polyps, so that could have been a reason...but I had to curl up on the couch for the night and the next day.

I took motrin about a 1/2 hour before and I felt a little cramping during it, nothing too major. I was ok the rest of the day, took motrin one more time. I didnt have a blockage though, but my friend who did had a more painful experience so Im thinking that the pain will depend on whether you have a blockage or not.
