HSG Results and Polyp Question UPDATE
So I had my HSG today.
It was done by my RE. I had to wait an hour in pre-op which made me nervous. Clear tubes!!!The procedure was more painful than I thought due to them finding a polyp. My RE is happy about the clear tubes but concerned about the polyp. I have to go in to his office on Saturday to get some kind of test to check out the polyp. He said polyps can lead to miscarriage. The polyp looked pretty big on the pictures I saw but he said its not blocking in the picture. He will do the test (? I was too out of it to know what he was really talking about) and then if needed I would have to have it removed. I could barely take the HSG let alone surgery for a polyp. Clearly I'm freaking out.
Talk to me about polyps. What should I know? Have you ever had one? If so, what was done? How long did this push back your "trying" cycles?
Thanks in advance for your help.
UPDATE: My appointment was resheduled to today (Sunday) due to the snow. Had a Saline Sonogram today as a follow up to my HSG on Wednesday. What my RE thought was a polyp was gone. He said it was probably an air bubble. Tubes were open! I was so happy to see there was no polyp on the screen. The Saline Sono was so much easier than the HSG. My BW came back good. My vitamin D was a little low and my Prolactin was a little off. I have to take a vitamin D supplement and get my prolactin tested again when I fast. Today was such a better day than my HSG day! I'm ready to get this show on the road.

Re: HSG Results and Polyp Question
I have had polyps removed before. If pregnancy is desired, then it needs to be done. It's an outpatient procedure w anesthesia and I was home the same day. Little bleeding after the procedure so the nurses will give you a pad. You may want to take a day or two off from work just to relax but you can resume to normal.activity. your re and surgical coordinator at will go over everything with you.

Re: HSG Results and Polyp Question
I know it stinks but its over rather quick. You will have blood drawn at pre testing a few days before then the surgery, then a follow-up visit w the RE. Don't worry.

HSG Results and Polyp Question
Thanks ladies. Its just been a lot for me this week with issues finding my veins to take blood and a bad HSG experience. Now I'm supposed to go in to see my RE for some type of test about the polyp on Saturday. I'm pretty sure that won't be happening since theres supposed to be lots of snow. What happened after the polyp was removed? Did you have to wait a while to start "trying" again? Can polyps go away on their own? My RE said where it is it isn't effecting me getting pregnant but could lead to miscarriage. Thanks!

Polyps do not go away on their own. I had them removed in 2009. My dr said you can leave them as they will not always interfere with pregnancy. I was not TTC at the time so I figured why not get them out and not chance it later.
You will be out for at least a cycle. The procedure is not bad. You are knocked out.

Re: HSG Results and Polyp Question
I just had one removed by D&C in January, and I was freaking out too! It was a large one, and my first surgery, but the procedure was like nothing! I was so surprised! I had general anesthesia. I had some mild cramping after, but was up and about the next day and 100% in about 3 days. I got AF my regular time that month and have been fine since. Really, the procedure is not bad at all. I am the biggest baby ever, seriously phobic of needles, etc. and I did it!
If the polyp is large, like mine was, it can act as a natural IUD. I would have never gotten to the MC stage because the polyp was so large it was preventing implantation.
Also, my Dr. said to wait one full cycle to try again. We are waiting a few more months for other timing reasons, but I have the go-ahead to start mid-Feb.
FM if you have any questions and good luck!

Thanks so much for your response. It is making me feel better. I actually have a follow up with my RE since my HSG was on Wednesday. He will be checking out the polyp in office. We'll see what he says. If it has to be removed I guess thats what I'll do. Glad it wasn't as bad for you as I'm thinking it will be.
