HSG results- Tube blocked - Now what

Had my HSG today and the doctor said that I had one tube blocked. What does this mean for me now. I have been doing some research and it seems that laposcopy (sp) might have to be done to investigate the reason for the blockage. Has anyone have this done, or have had this diagonosis. Any feedback would be helpful. I am so nervous and upset right now and no one to talke to. I wont see my doctor until Thursday, and if I tell my husband, he will simply brush it aside and tell me not to worry.

TIA

I'm sorry - I don't have any experience with blocked tubes but I know girls on here have had success even with one tube - it just makes it a little more difficult since only one side is working but at least that side is working, KWIM? If you are not already, you should consider seeing an RE, there is medication you can take to stimulate more follicles and give you a better chance of ovulating from the good side.

I wish you the best of luck -

You definitely need to go to an RE if you aren't already.

You do have options...as Carolyn said, you can take drugs to make more follies or if the open tube is still somewhat blocked you can go straight to IVF.

I have a blocked tube - diagnosed by HSG test. The doctor says it does not reduce your chances by 50%. We've been trying for 8 months so we are going onto clomid & AI this month.

Talk to your doctor and see what he/she says...

Good Luck!

I had both tubes blocked. I did try IVF 2x and it did not work. I switched RE and had the surgery done in May. I had both tubes removed. I was told that when the tubes are blocked the fluid in them can effect the outcome of the IVF. It wont hurt you but could effect the embryo implanting. I did not start the new cycle yet to give you any idea if removing them worked. But if I can help in any other way let me know. Good Luck.
