Re: Hunger Games

Just started the first book last week. It's really good so far. I only read a chapter a night before bed, but I always want to keep reading it.

I have to say, having read the first two in the past two days, I recommend them so far wholeheartedly. Reading Mockingjay today (and will probably finish it today.) For a series in which I'd initially had no interest, I can't believe how much I'm loving these books.

Re: Hunger Games

i guess i'm the only one who did not like it Chat Icon

i tried to get into it. but from the outset, the idea of kids fighting and dying was just too much for me to handle. it must be a new mommy thing. ever since DS was born 11 months ago, any sort of hint at kid violence or pain drives me crazy. I couldn't get past it. I got to the train and that was it.

Re: Hunger Games

Lets just say that I was so engrossed this morning, I almost missed my subway stop. That has only happened to me once before, and I probably knocked over a few people trying to get off the train before the doors closed.

And this isnt even the kind of book I would normally read.

Re: Hunger Games

I didn't think that it would be for me, but I read a free sample on my nook color on Friday, and ended up downloading the book. I finished it this evening. It is such a disturbing premise, but I loved the book, and just DLed the other two in the trilogy. Can't wait to keep reading!

Ok, I finished it last night and I loved it! I immediately ordered the second one in the series and decided to finish the series before moving on to my next book.

Re: Hunger Games

If you read the trilogy, you should also check out "The Girl Who Was on Fire". It was a really cool collection of essays about the trilogy. Chat Icon

Also, if you are/become a crazy fan like me, there's a buttload of great fansites that have info about the movie and different discussions about the books.Chat Icon

Re: Hunger Games

i read it but i thought the plot was too violent

i also though that the dialogue was very corny and juvenile

Re: Hunger Games

I just devoured those books! I started the first one last Friday night, and finished the last one Wednesday night. I found the 3rd one a little harder for me to get through, but I still loved the trilogy.

I just finished. I read the first two in a day apiece, just reading here and there..VERY quick reads. The third one did take longer, but I enjoyed it. I'll be interested to see the movies

I'm a Middle School English teacher and all of the kids were reading the books, so I gave them a shot this summer...excellent!! Way better than I expected!
