Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
My parents have a whole house hydronic baseboard system and I definitely prefer that over forced air. In fact, I wish our home had it.
Our home's heating system is rather inefficient (forced air), so we installed Hydrosil heaters in both our children's room (hardwired) because those rooms tend to get colder than other rooms. I LOVE them! They give off a very comfortable and even heat. Downside is they're costly to run.

Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
I thought they would be less expensive than electric baseboards...

Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
What makes hydronic baseboard heating better than regular hot water baseboards?
I can see the arguement against forced air, but aren't the hot water steam baseboards sufficient?

Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
From a website:
Hydronic baseboard heaters have a number of advantages. They are usually quiet and efficient. Being closed systems, these types of heaters don't require the owner to periodically add liquid. Additionally, hydronic heating does not dry out the air, or spread dust or allergens.

Isn't hydronic baseboard heating the same as hot water baseboards?

I don't know but I would think all the Levitts already have the hot water baseboards.
A hot water baseboard is an enclosed system, and they are pretty much quiet (I never hear mine).

I would imagine because it's running all the time and therefore uses a decent amount of electricity, unlike a whole house system which seems to kick in and out with less frequency.
I'm just guessing here. My DH knows more about it than I do. I know we found out the hard way when we got our LIPA bill and it was double. We called to find out what the jump was and they asked some questions and it turned out it was the addition of our Hydrosils and radiant flooring.

Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
The Hydrophonic radiators are basically the same. I was just confused because the contracot used a big word lol. The new ones are more quiet and efficient than the baseboards that are in my levitt now.
Thanks

Do you know what brand/manufacturer they are using? You may want to ask them that.

Re: Hydronic Baseboard heating
I will have to ask. I was at the house a little while ago and they moved the boiler and jack hammered up the cement floor to move the pipes in the kitchen.
