HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
My cruise is on April 1st, and I haven't started making a list of things to bring. If you've been on a cruise in the past, what were some MUST HAVE ITEMS that you brought with you? If you've NEVER been on a cruise, what WOULD you bring with you?
Thanks, guys!!! I can always count on you!!!

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
ahhhh, let me get in dream mode , a cruise
*A few pairs of shoes (cute shoes, comfy shoes) *clothes to work out in, just t-*shirts/sweats/sneakers, we sometimes forget the casual stuff! *sunblock/lotion *little notepad/pen - you never know what youre gonna have to jot down *tiny backpack/easy to carry bag to take with you on daily excursions. (that can at least fit 2 water bottles )
cant think of anything else since its been so long.
im jealous, have fun!
also, go to cruisecritic.com for great info, you can look up the specific cruiseline and sail date and even meet people online before the cruise! another LIF situation right on board

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
oh and if youre a picture-a-holic like me, something to download your photos onto. my hubby lugged his laptop along back then, but we have a much better camera now so I *THINK* 1500 pictures is enough for a week if I was going on a cruise

Bonine- it's sea sickness meds- take it BEFORE you get sick- each morning- take it so you never feel ill-you can drink with it and it does not make you sleepy-dramamine makes me sleepy and I dont think you're suppossed to drink with it...try Bonine!
Sunblock/Tanning Lotion Sunglasses Sundresses Your formal wear Shoes Flip Flops Bathing Suits shorts and capris tanks and tshirts cover ups books and mags Camera!!!!! Video Camera if you want to
bring a sep. bag that you keep with you with items you will need, since you may not get your luggage until the evening

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
Gin and vodka in water bottles
a great coverup to go from pool to room to buffet
I am fair skinned, so I bring a little pop up sun tent for the beach
tons of socks and undies
a little first aid kit, medicine on ship and islands are crazy expensive
sneakers you don't care about for some excursions

YESSS very good point !!!!!!! forgot about that one.
and if this is your first cruise, you might not know that you can get on the ship a few hours BEFORE sailing.
I think we went 4-5 hours earlier and just chilled out by the pool and took a walk around the ship and enjoyed it, and it was empty since not many people get on that early.
I never read on vacations, so that's not a necessity for me. I feel like I might miss out on something, kinda like a kid

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
I was prescribed MECLIZINE a few months back for an inner ear viral thing (to ease vertigo); it says on the label it's used for traveling (to prevent motion sickness) as well. Is this just as good as those other brands you guys were mentioning earlier?

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
oh and put all your bottles in a SEALED plastic bag. on one cruise, one of my tiny hairsprays, the cap came off and it was an aerosol bottle, so my WHOLE BAG REAKED OF IT thank God it was a tiny bottle and it was aerosol so it wasnt a whole bottle spill, but it was the nozzle pushed into the clothes and the pressure made a bunch of it spray into the clothes if that makes sense
an extra bag to bring home stuff you buy.

never heard of it...
I prefer bonine to dramamine because dramamine makes me sleepy and I am pretty sure you arent suppossed to drink with it- not positive though...I also like to take it before I ever feel dizzy... I hate that feeling and using this med I never get to feel yucky

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
as far as the medications, all the ships I went on, all the employees on the ship had that on them at all times, since people can get woozy at any given time (not to scare you)...
They see that youre feeling weak or lightheaded and they whip out a pill from their pocket (in sealed packets of course )

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
I would DEFINITELY bring my own disposable under watner cameras for excursions. They are much cheaper in Walmart than they are on the excursion.
Since you have to dress for dinner, I would bring maybe 2 or 3 simple skirts (say, black and white or something) and bring several different tops for each skirt, in order to reduce the amount of things you bring! I also tried to do the same with shoes, they make your bags so heavy and the airlines love to charge overages for heavy bags.
Also, try not to forget your sunglasses, sunblock and things like that. I ended up sneaking some alcohol on the ship, but it was such a PITA to get soda and ice to mix with that we didn't even use it. Most cruises have a "drink of the day" that's like $2, so I stuck to those for the most part.
ITA about the baggies for your liquid stuff you're bringing. Make sure, if you're flying someplace, that you don't put your liquids in your carry-on.
Have a great time!

also wanted to add: One cruise, DH and I went w/o luggage. The airport lost it...pack as much as you can into carry-ons

Definitely bring some kind of sweater or sweatshirt. It gets cold on the boat at night. I wore a hoodie almost every night on the boat

Re: HYPOTHETICAL - What would your "packing list" be if you were going on a cruise?
Lots of bathing suits and coverups.
A few formal dresses.
A few "going out" outfits.
Shorts and tanks.
Flips.
Sunscreen.
And workout clothes...they usually have nice gyms.
Something warm to wear over your "going out" and formal dresses because the boats are always freezing at night.
