Hysterectomy???'s (kinda long and TMI)
Hey everyone-barely ever on anymore I have been dealing with a slew of health issues this year. Was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Osteoarthritis last year and have spent most of the year visiting doctors, specialists to manage it. To add icing to the cake-a few weeks ago I felt a lump"down there"it actually felt like a baby's head crowning and at first was like "oh s*it I am going to be on TLC's show "I didn't know I was pregnant!". Hubby looked and was like yikes something is coming out. So I made an emergency ob/gyn appt the next day. The NP was in and did a quick feel and said basically that my uterus is prolapsing and the only "cure" is a hysterectomy. I cried. I mean, me and hubby were like 99.5% sure we were done having kids, being we have a healthy boy and girl, but deepdown I always longed for 1 more baby when Kyle was in school :( I went to Suffolk OBgyn for a second opionion with one of their surgeons and it turns out that not only is my uterus prolapsing, my rectum and bladderare "falling down" as well!!! :( It is know as a cystocele and rectocele. They won't even operate on me and want me to see a specialist in Nassau (a doctor Winkler) that is supposed to be the best in the field. Basically-if you got this far-has anyone heard of this surgeon, or anyone who has gone through any of these procedures? They will be keeping my ovaries so I don't go into early menopause. Thanks :)Danielle

Re: Hysterectomy???'s (kinda long and TMI)
My mother had a prolapsed uterus and they stitched it back in place. The procedure was called a "Manchester Repair". I will never forget that name for some reason. At that time she was 54 and had already gone through menopause so I have no idea why they did it but it was successful.
Good luck to you. I'm sorry you are suffering like this.

Re: Hysterectomy???'s (kinda long and TMI)
I have a friend that has this issue. They said there is a surgery that can be done but also suggested a pessary to her. They also said another pregnancy was not out of the question.
I'd get a second opinion, and a third too, before opting for a hysterectomy.

My aunt had a similar situation, and used Dr. Angel, and also had several consults w. Dr. Procaccino.
