I admit it- i'm lazy about introducing foods! Anyone else?
at DDs 4 month appt, the Dr said to start her on foods (first rice cereal, then oatmeal, barley, etc), then vegs. Start a new one every 4 days or so. (i should also put my disclaimer that i was in no rush to start her on foods, and that she wasnt giving cues that she was still hungry after her bottles)).
Anyway, we started her on rice cereal on Dec 28th. And. Nothing since then
i finally picked up oatmeal and barley today- ill start the oatmeal tomorrow and barley at the end of the week. The dr said by the next visit (end of Feb), she should be having cereal at AM & PM feedings and a veg or fruit at lunch.
was anyone else slow to introduce foods? i figure ill try to make the vegs this week so we can start her on them next week, i've just been dragging my feet about it.

I wouldn't worry. A lot of doctors suggest waiting til 6 months to introduce solids.

I didn't start until 6 months with either kid. With DD, I went slowly even after 6 months because she really hated solids. She didn't warm up to the idea until 7.5-8 months. DS I moved pretty quickly because he LOVES eating. He's 9 months & totally over purees & is eating mostly table foods for his solid meals (he's still primarily BF).

I tried a few times at 4 months and DS hated it. I held off till almost 6 months. THen I introduced cereal, veg, and fruit all at the same time. I did the same Veg for 4 days and then tried another. I was in no rush.

Thanks!
DD isnt really a fan of eating it from the spoon, so i usually end up putting most of it in the bottle. She does love it in the bottle though.

i felt like at 4 mo my DCs were infants still..I didnt touch the stuff til 6 mo and it was only once a day for a while...no rush! BM or formula is main source of nutrition til a year...in the beginning it is just for experimentation anyway!

Re: I admit it- i'm lazy about introducing foods! Anyone else?
At the advice of the ped. we started with oatmeal. We started at 4 and DD was clearly not ready for solids. We started again at 5 months and she is doing ok. She is def. not 100% ready yet. She eats it, spits it out and really does not get through even a starter portion. She looks for her bottle and once she knows it's there (to take sips to wash the cereal or veggies down) she wants no part of the food anymore.
So far we give her 2 tsps. of oatmeal mixed with 2-3 tsp. of formula twice a day and 1 tbsp of a veggie once a day. She never finishes any of it.
