I am about to lose my mind...
We applied for our mortgage on June 9 and we are still waiting for our commitment.  I feel like the CIA is looking into our background and everything. Geez louise. We were supposed to have the commitment to our buyers today and we had to now file for an extension. I really hope they grant it. 
Everyone keeps saying this won't affect our closing date but I don't believe them for a second!

that's actually pretty soon for a commitment letter. it's normally 30-45 days. have you talked to your mortgage broker?

we went through the same crap with the committment letter so i know exactly how you feel!!! it took a really long time to get that letter to the sellers, but in the end it did not change our closing date. It is a frustrating process. i felt my mortgage company was sooo disorganized!! Try not to stress too much . . . it will happen. Just make sure you stay on top of the mortgage company!

Wow, that long? HSBC had ours within a week to show our sellers, but that was Dec '06.

i totally know how u feel- i signed my contract on 6/6 and it says i have 30 days to get a commitment letter and i have nothing- lol
i am not sure what day my seller signed i think it was about 7 days after i did- so i assume it goes from that date.
i met with my mtg broker on 6/10 and nothing is filed yet- had to go down today and fill out more paperwork.
the mortgage process has been the worst part of this- everyone acts like its no big deal- but its my life!! today the mortgage lady was like relax you are only borrowing 120,000 thats nothing- i was like oh so the fact that i dont need to borrow that much money compared to someone else should make this time less stressful for me???ugh

I think it depends on the bank. The girl that is purchasing our place just rec'd her letter last week. We've been waiting since the beginning of May for it.

I'm there too. Since the last time I called my processor, it took 6 days to get a return call she claimed I never gave her information that I KNOW I gave her, I know call repeatedly and leave messages trying to find out whats going on.
We are supposed to have final approval by July 10th, and I seriously doubt that happening because of the holiday weekend. We're supposed to close the 21st.
