I am MAJORLY confused about booster seats w/ harness

Just bought the Graco 3 in 1 Nautilus for Aly.

Now...the book says use the harness for up to 65 lbs (which I understand because some kids weigh more) but for the height....

WITH harness up to 52 inches in height.

Then it proceeds to say that IF the childs shoulders are above the top harness strap slot, then the child is TOO BIG for the harness.

Um...Aly is around 37 inches tall and her shoulders are ABOVE the top harness strap slot. HOW IN THE WORLD COULD A 52 INCH TALL CHILD USE A HARNESS????Chat Icon

Do I use the harness on her or do I use the seat with the shoulder belt???

We just installed the Graco Nautilus yesterday. JAcob is 39 inches and is in the five point harness... WE don't even have the straps in the top ones...

Are you sure you have the straps at the longest???

It should work.. Jacob fits comfortably and I really like the carseat..

Her DC is way too young and too small to be strapped in with a seatbelt.

I don't have that seat, so I'm not sure, but I would call the number in the instruction manual.

but doesn't it say in the instructions that if the childs shoulders are above the top slot, the child is too big for the harness?

this is my confusion...her shoulders are above that top slotChat Icon

Not all people are proportionally the same. Me, and DS have much longer torsos compared to our legs. Other people are the reverse. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to have a 52" DC have much of their height in the legs, and their shoulders could still be below the height restriction for the straps.
