all of the above are great suggestions!
I also used to send any candy that won't melt, breath mints, instant hand sanitizer, and random little items I'd find for a few cents in the store - once I sent a pack of crayons and a GI Joe coloring book, and apparently the guys had a great time passing it around and coloring when they got really bored.

My friend was stationed over there a few months ago and he sent this list of what NOT to pack based on military restrictions.
"Anything can be sent to me as long as it's not porn or alcohol. Porn to these guys can be as innocent as Maxim or the SI Swim Suit Edition."
Really? We used to send my cousin porn all the time (at his request...don't think we are some kind of pervs or anything...LOL). He was there a long time ago though so maybe things changed.
Even though he is a non-smoker, he used to always ask us for cigars and cigarettes too. I think it helps them stay awake on overnights.

You aren't "supposed" to but I think its ok. My dad just sent my brother mini plastic bottles of jack daniels. My brother and his buddies had a fun night...they really loved it!

When my cousin was there I sent a bunch of pairs of black socks, travel sized hand sanitizer, q-tips, chap stick, sun glasses, baby wipes, foot powder,tissues, toilet paper and I can't remember what else. If I think of more I will add to this.
