I am so torn
Since I am out this month, BFN yesterday no AF yet but she is coming I don't know what to do about this month. If I get pg I would be due around Christmas and I just think for a kid that is such a bad time of year to have a b-day. I really don't want to stop trying for a month but I am confused as to what to do. Is anyone else out there in the same situation? What are your plans?

Re: I am so torn
I'm a Christmas baby and it's all of what you make of it. As a child my parents always made a big deal about my b-day. As an adult I've never worked on my b-day and as a child I never had school on my b-day.
A child is a blessing no matter when he or she is born. I would keep trying but that's just my opinion.

Re: I am so torn
I am in the same EXACT situation. BFN yesterday and I am starting to spot. I just looked at the calendar and if I were to get pregnant next cycle the baby would be due right around Christmas. This was my second month trying. I got pregnant the second month trying with my first. I am starting to get depressed and worried that we may have a harder time this time around. I am not putting off this cycle. Chances are we may not get PG this cycle. I am praying that we do though!

Re: I am so torn
After TTC for quite some time, with a loss I am biased but I think you should not let ANYTHING put it on hold (of course medical conditions are an exception) but you truly never know when you'll be given that gift and I would have charted sooner, and not let any time slip by. Good luck! Just look at the big picture - a baby is a blessing and a miracle. I would just let nature decide.

Re: I am so torn
We have been trying, and I had the same thought but I decided to keep trying anyway. I think it's what the family makes of the birthday. My nephew was born a week before X-mas and his family goes all out anyway.
On the plus side for me, it would be better to have a baby in the winter and get to be on leave during the bad weather. My commute is really long and there are times in the winter when I have to stay home because the roads are bad. If I was on leave during that time I would prefer it.
Plus, I am getting closer and closer to 35, so that is a big factor for me.

My birthday is 10 days before Christmas. My parents were awesome about it! I always got two separate gifts for birthday and Christmas. I think you just have to budget it. Plus, I had ice skating parties, trip to the city parties (to see the tree and all the sites, etc.), dance parities, etc. growing up. Even if it snowed on my birthday my mom would plan a party for a few weeks after Christmas and we would go sledding or do something fun. You just have to be creative and the kid will grow up feeling just as you feel about it. So if you HATE the idea, so will your kid IMO. I always liked it because my parents always made my birthday fun!

Us too, we hardly even tried with Alex and now I am beginning to worry too. With all the responses, I think I am going to continue to try. You never know when your month is to everyone!

Re: I am so torn
My birthday is 3 days after Christmas...and we are Jewish, but it still got lost with the all the holidays! I am also a twin, so I had to share my birthday anyway. However...I wouldn't put TTC on hold. I took me almost 2 years to get PG which I never expected, so if I had a baby around Christmas, so be it....if you make the child's birthday separate from Christmas, they won't feel like they are missing anything.

Re: I am so torn
My step-daughter is the day after and she never feels like her b-day is forgotten, the families always have made it into a separate day.
I almost skipped this month because I would be due right around christmas and because his daughter already has a birthday then, but I decided I wasnt skipping for anything other than medical.

Re: I am so torn
My birthday is 12/20 and my parents always made sure I had some sort of a party and I never got combined gifts as a kid....my brother is 12/26....I guess my mom was only fertile in March

Re: I am so torn
If I get a BFN this cycle we decided to keep on TTC ..even though next cycle I would be due on NEW YEARS EVE!! I was speaking to my MIL about the possibility, she said "who cares! more of a reason to celebrate,I'll be there wearing a New Years tiara!"
She's right,your childs B'day is a reason to celebrate-no matter what day it falls on,although personally,leap year would bother me a bit..its like a b'day in limbo

Re: I am so torn
Would you have turned Alex away because his Birthday might have been in December? Of course not...we only think about our birthdays once a year! No biggie! let think about it now if you were giving a choice of NO baby or December baby! December baby it will be!! IMO
