Being away from family is very difficult. Both of our parents are clear across the country. Taking the time to visit is just that..taking the time. Also they are getting older and it's not easy to make the trip. I only see my parents 1-2 times a year and his maybe once a year. They are both on fixed incomes and the financial burden of the travel expenses falls on us.

I am working on bringing my parents back here or just moving us and them someplace else so we can be closer. I am sad to think that I will have a child someday and they won't be there to share and to be grandparents to him/her.

Having said that though, you can't put your life on hold. You have to do what's good for you.

I'm just giving you perspective of how I am feeling right now. I miss them terribly.
