I am SOOOOOOOOO ANGRY!!! LONG VENT-Updated on 2nd page
I hate feeling like I am being taken advantage of...
Our car lease is up at the end of the month, and we went in to the same dealership (different salesperson) a few weeks ago to negotiate for a new car. My parents just leased their 4th car from this dealership.
It turns out that the car we want (same one we have now) became very popular over the years and are selling like crazy...none on the lot, not even one on the showroom floor. Told the guy what color and he gave us a price. I told him we needed to negotiate the price more and he waved his hand and said, let me put a search for the car to make sure we can get it and run the credit b/c today is the last day of the sale (it was) and then we will talk about that.
Almost 2 weeks go by and I don't hear from him so I call and he says, Oh, I never called you? We found a car, I will call you when I know its coming in...should be any day. Again, no word from him so I call and still no news. I remind him my lease is almost up.
Then the other day I get a call from the finance manager totally SHMOOZING me for like 10 minutes, how are your parents? How did their move go?, etc etc, like he is a close friend Tells me that the car is in the country but will take 10 days to get there and I know your lease is about up...I tellhim I have a grace period, but that we never agreed on a price, and he said to come in over the weekend and see him and we will take care of things.
FF to today. I go in and wait 45 minutes to see this guy, who spends 5 minutes shmoozing me again about my family, and then starts going over paperwork. I told him I needed to agree to a price and he said, Oh, your salesperson needs to do that...OK, THEN WHY DID YOU TELL ME TO SEE YOU???? I thought that he was going to handle it
So, back into the waiting room I go. Salesperson comes over to tell me he is w/ a customer and he will be right with me. Ten minutes later he comes into the waiting room (didn't even take me to his desk) with my paperwork in front of other customers and employees and basically tells me this is the price...no negotiating and that I agreed to it No, I did not...I basically walked out cursing...
Now, my lease is up at the end of the month and I have a ten day grace period, but to go to a different dealership right now and have them find a car will be impossible. They put me in a no win (well, for me) position and they know they have me...
I am so so freaking angry that I needed to vent..I hate this crap!!!!

ugh... what a douchbag!
is there a manager you could talk to? I wouldn't let him know that you're back is up against the wall... you could always say that you are borrowing a car from yourparents, etc.. and have decided to go with another dealer because of their incompetence. When they realize the amount of money they're about to lose, maybe they'll get their sh!t together.

at the end of my last lease they told me they could extend my lease up to 3 months if needed and that was if I wanted to wait for the turbo model of my same car. Idk if that varies from car company to company, but I would go to a different dealership and see what they can do for you.

wow..I would go with the invoice price from Edmunds.com in your hand and tell him this is what you agree to.
Tell him to write the deal up with that price. No you don't want lojack or whatever BS they want to sell you.
Worth a try..that's plain old BS. I don't blame you for being mad. And that crap about the car being in the US blah blah..yeah, those cars go to the highest bidder. There were 10 cars just like yours already bought and sold in the time you were in there 3 weeks ago.
Now, popular cars can sell for sticker or above, but I have never been turned down with the price I offered. Never, and I have leased all my cars and very popular ones at that.
Get the deal written up with a delivery date.

talk about balls!!! I'd seriously report him to the manager. Not sure if it's going to make a huge difference, but for the headache he caused you, he definitely deserves one in return!

I'm so sorry you have to go thru this Lisa! I absolutely HATE when I go in for a new car. I agree that they think they have you by the short hairs and they think you will cave in. As Neenie said tell them you are going else where. It may be a pain in the neck but these people deal with this stuff everyday. Hang tough and do what is right for you in the long run.
ETA: I have gotten up and walked out before and heard all the same bs as you are getting. They ended up making a deal with me real quick. They don't want to lose a repeat customer over something like this!

I agree. and i think he's jsut tryingto call your bluff. If he had another person to sell it to, he would have. thats what car salesmen do- they sell as many cars as possible, not just the ones that 'fall through' from other deals.
I hope he gets crabs.

I really thought when I walked out muttering, THIS IS BULL$HIT (in front of customers b/c the idiot didn't even have the courtesy to take me into his office) that my cell phone would be ringing shortly

There is no way in hellll I would go back there. Go to another dealer and tell them what car you want, if that dealer can get it, than so can another one.
That is such BS!!!!!

I'm wondering if he will call me tomorrow
I'll have to spend all morning (at work) calling the leasing company to see what kind of extension they can give me, and other dealerships to see what they can do
I am still FUMING about being treated like that
I was in sales for many years and would NEVER EVER treat a customer (especially a REPEAT customer) like that!!!!

I'll second that. I hope everything works out for you. If you can't extend the lease anymore than 10 days extra by speaking to the finance company you could always rent a car for a week or so. It won't cost too much, and that way you could take a week, go visit other dealerships, look at other cars, etc.

That's ridiculous shame on those fools
I know it's probably inconienent but when I was car shopping last year I went to some dealerships in queens and some in Manhattan ( 2 different types of cars) The Manhattan dealers had better prices. Maybe they can work better with your lease?

That's HORRIBLE. I had a pretty bad situation with my dealership when I was returning my lease once - AT THEIR URGING and persistance, I had purchased the extra warranty that covers all extra "wear and tear" when you return the lease. Apparently the dealership got a kickback for every warranty they sold, but then, a year later, the warranty company went bankrupt. No one told me and so when I went to return the car I got slammed with a $1500 bill
The reason why I'm telling you this is, I sent a letter to the owner of the dealership, registered and certified, telling him of the situation, and threatening to contact the attorney general of PA, and the BBB, and threatening to file suit and demand all the records detailing the extent of the kickback. I got a call TWO DAYS later from the owner. One week after that I got a check in the mail to cover the full amount.

I cant believe they would treat you like this. I used to work in a dealership and repeat customers were always taken care of. Try getting an 800 number directly to the manufacturer and make a complaint. Also take the quote that was given to you and take it to another dealership so they can beat it. I would also have your parents call the manager and complain about the mistreatment.

I would call the owner or write him a letter
I did that when I had a bad experince at Huntington Mercedes and it worked
the owner personally called me- and helped - he gave me free service on the car and then when the car was still not perfect- I had documentation to get out of the lease early- into another car- and I got some of the fee's waived!

What a Pe nis!!! I would go to their nearest compettitor and explain what they did to you. Dealerships will bend over backwards to correct the wrongs of others. Makes them look golden!
