I can't believe people fall for this stuff
A good family friend was telling us all about how he's going to make a lot of money off a new investment.
He bought Iraqui dinar.
Total scam. He was so proud of his "certificate of authenticity" too.
I'm not gonna blow up his little fantasy, but how can people still fall for these things?

ive never heard of that one. but they have some pyramid scheme by my house in queens. it actually has a storefront.
i thiink some people need to learn on their own- they refuse to benefit from others' mistakes.

if he is "spending" (wasting) $100 or so, I would leave it alone. If it is a few hundred, or thousands of dollars, you should say something

Iraqui money. Basically, he bought worthless Iraqui money that "could" be worth something when the "UN forgives their debt" and "revalue" the money for more than it is currently worth. That's directly what he said to me. I just looked it up and its a total scam.

Yep, people have been doing this for years. My mil, sil and bil THINK their day is coming soon.
Every once in awhile my dh goes, wonder when they are going to get their money.

Ok, first off, I read this quickly and thought you said diner. I was like, oh that's odd
Anyway, I've never even heard of this before. Crazy how easily people fall for stuff.

Me, too! I was thinking "ok, he invested in a diner... in Iraq?!"
