I can't believe the things people tell me!
Whenever someone finds out I'm pregnant they feel they need to share their horrible traumatic labor story with me. It can be family, friends, strangers, neighbors, nurses, doctors. They make me sick telling me they were in labor for 75 hours or whatever the hel BS they need to tell me.
Now that my dr is considering a c-section I'm hearing peoples horrible surgery stories about the needle or they couldnt move for 5 days or other BS things.
I would NEVER purposely make a pregnant woman feel more uncomfortable and scared than she already is. This is my first baby I'm scared as hel and it gets worse everyday. I just cant take peoples dumbas comments and experience that really does not have to be shared. I'm just so fed up with it. People are annoying me more and more every day and I hate to be bitter about it but I'm sorry women should make other women feel better about this experience not worse. I'm so friggin emotional on top of this. If I hear one more persons bad labor/surgery experience I'm gonna freak out and cry hysterically.

ditto and ditto! i'm going for a VBAC this time but if i had to have another c-section it wouldn't phase me at all. the surgery itself as quick and recovery was fast as well!

Re: I can't believe the things people tell me!
i was discussing this at work the other day with teh other ladies and how it scares the crap out of me. So all but 1 of the women are telling me its ok, not that bad, etc. This one woman goes, welll, im not going to be teh one who lies to you but (and these were her exact words) it felt as if two elephants were standing on each side of my back ripping me apart. I just said to her....why?
shes a total hypachondriac and alwasy ahs something worng with her, so i figure if anyone would exxagerate itd be her. but still, people are so dumb!

Yeah, I always say that pregnancy seems to bring out the worst in most people. But, not for nothing, get used to it. Once you have the baby, people will enjoy telling you horror stories even more Oh, then there's the unsolicited parenting advice. That's fun. You learn to give them the evil eye and ignore them

Re: I can't believe the things people tell me!
I would use those as opportunities to teach people a lesson, not only in etiquette and manners, but also in life. I'd come up with some horrific story about smokers, people who go tanning, eat junk food all the time, car accidents, etc. Then when they tell you a horrible labor story, pull one of those out and see how they like it. 'I knew a smoker once who {insert horrible things here}'. People don't like to hear the truth but they do like to tell it.
Or you could say What makes you think I want to hear about that? and then walk away. This is the only time in your life where you can get away with so much. Enjoy it!

Ignore them!!! My mom had 3 very successful C-sections, back when they weren't as advanced as they are today. My boss just had one and is great! You'll be fine....screw those people!

I couldn't believe how much people would do this. It was like once they knew you were pregnant they had a victim to unleash their personal horror stories on. I eventually started saying "aren't you forgetting to tell me the best part when they show you your beautiful baby". Now i get more "just wait..." type comments.

Re: I can't believe the things people tell me!
People share war stories because they think it makes for good bonding and sometimes it does, but usually only after everyone's on the other side. People tend to forget that!
Don't let those people bother you - I've had several friends with c-sections who had nice and easy surgeries and recoveries. I've also had friends with perfectly fine vaginal labors and one successful VBAC who found recovery from both types to be very similar. Just ignore them - you have to remember the law of averages - most first labors are like 14 hours or something like that start to finish (at least that's what's in my book so I'm going with it) - and only a few of those hours are supposed to be hard. Believe me, whatever will come - you can do this and you will be fine!!!
Just curious - why is your doctor considering a c-section now? You're due right around me and my OB has not yet broached the subject of actual labor (unless I've asked questions). I hope everything's OK!!!

Re: I can't believe the things people tell me!
Thank you so much! I feel bad venting on here all the time but you guys make me feel so much better.
And my dr is considering a c-section bc I was in the hospital from last sun-wed bc I was having symptoms of a mini stroke so DH called the ambulence. My left side started to go numb, I couldnt move my hand or arm and it moved up to my face where I couldnt talk and couldnt feel myself breathe. Once I got to the ER I was admitted pretty quickly to do a million tests. EKG, catscan, echocardiogram all was fine. They did a sono on the baby like 4 times, he's totally fine. Then they decided to do a sono on my coratid artieries where it came back that there was a 50-70% chance of a blockage. My dr told me right away that he didnt think it was a good idea to go through labor bc with all the pressure my body and artery wouldnt be able to handle it. I had an MRI on my brain, head and neck. The next day they said it was negative and there is no blockage or stenosis at all. However I still have bloodwork out waiting for results so it still could be something I dont know how long its gonna take but thats where I'm at. I have a dr appt tomorrow he wants to see me before I go back to work so hopefully he has some results.
I have a history of migraines, passing out, fainting, dizziness even pre-PG so he's also concerned that I might blackout in the middle of labor.
I should have updated as soon as I go out of the hospital but I dont know what happened. Since then I've just been totally taking it easy and still having some dizzy spells and feeling out of it all week. I havent drove since and so far I think thats a good thing for everyone else lol.

This sounds absolutely terrifying - I'm so glad you're feeling better, if not 100% just yet. Pregnancy is very taxing on your circulatory system and nervous system - I sincerely hope this is a whole big nothing and just caused by the baby putting pressure on the wrong nerve or artery. Please keep us posted and feel better!!
