I cracked my laptop screen
Does anyone know where I can get it replaced? I dont want to buy a whole new computer. Its a Dell Inspiron 1420. Thanks

If it's too expensive to fix, try to insure it with safeware.
After I bought my macbook, my husband spilled water on it and the screen went blank. I quickly bought insurance for 96.00 I think and they WOULD HAVE fixed it for me, but fortunately the water didn't damage it.
Months later, when *I* spilled juice on the SAME laptop and the keyboard lights went out, they fixed it for free.

I was quoted over $400 to fix my laptop screen by HP (only a year and a half after I bought it!). I went online and found a place that sells replacement screens for around $80 and fixed it myself.... Take that HP!

I have a screen upstairs that I got for a laptop my sister in law had that she broke the screen on but it ended up she broke more than that - Im not sure if it is compatible - but I would be willing to sell it for $50 if it is. I would have to look it up
Whats th full model number of your computer?

Once you have the screen, look up Dells website for a service manual on your model, which should give you pictures and step by step instructions. I used to replace them all the time using those manuals and although it was a little nerve wracking at first (I kept thinking I was going to drop and lose a screw on the floor), everything went fine.

That's crazy! You could have bought a brand new laptop for that amount! Do you remember the name of the website you used?
