I did it. I went to Costco.

It's big. Chat Icon

I got a membership and walked out with a lot more than I bargained for. I went for toilet paper and paper towels. Walked out with 20 Mach III Razors, 52 Gillette Sensor razors, a big container of raspberry walnut and chocolate rugelach, 3 bottles of Listerine, Kirkland's fish oil, Vitamin E, Glucosamine/Chondroitin, and Flintstone chewables for me.

I was looking for a hard plastic kiddie pool for Brinkley but they don't have any! I can't find this thing for the life of me. Anyone who has pools only has the inflatable kind. Not good for dog claws.

Calling Harrows today to see if they have. Or I guess I'll have to wait.

So, what else is good at Costco for the childfree who don't need 20 gallons of milk at a time? Any suggestions for my next trip? I've never had Costco food but that rugelach is REALLY good!

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

I'm a BJ's gal, went with DH on Sunday and we walked out with a lot of stuff.
I tend not to buy big food items because it goes to waste. I keep reminding DH that it's only two of us - I don't have to buy for an army.
We bout vitamins, calcium, Claritin, tylenol, toiletry items - those are usually a good buy.

We don't have kids yet - but we go there all the time!

We buy frozen chicken breasts (they come individually wrapped in plastic) which are great.. we just take 2 out in the morning and they've thawed by the time we're ready to cook dinner.

Frozen shrimp.

Packages of ground turkey (you can freeze those too).

paper towels

toilet paper

sugar, flour

cheese

soy milk (keeps good in the fridge for a while!)

eggs

I was lurking over here - try babies r us or toys r us for the hard plastic pool - I got one at BRU a few weeks ago. If you go early enough (like when they open), it is not too crazy there yet. Chat Icon

Yes, I forgot about chicken breast. I eat a lot of chicken. The food you get - is it all Kirkland brand? Or various stuff?

dpli, I called Toys R Us in Lake Grove and they said they have them. I hope so! I'm going to Garden Depot tonight and Toys R Us afterwards.

No - almost none of it's Kirkland brand... I can't think of the brand off the top of my head though!

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

they have the best meat- I just defrosted boneless pork chops from them last night & they were incredible- I buy a lot of meat in bulk and rewrap it into smaller portions for us- it works out great

Sorry to crash but I saw the pools you are talking about this past weekend at Walmart in the garden section (specifically the one in Commack).

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

I regularly get these things at BJs:

Napkins
Paper towels
Toilet paper
Dog food (I buy purina one or the bjs brand of it, whichever they have - meat is the number one ingredient and i will not buy food for my dog that has corn or wheat listed first)
vaseline lotion (3 pack in pump bottle for like $10!)
shampoo
laundry detergent
dishwasher soap
dishwashing liquid (big bottle of JOY - i use it to refill the small bottle i keep at the sink)
chicken breasts, hamburgers, bread, frozen meals (smart ones, lean cuisine), potatoes, etc.

We don't have a membership to any of those stores, however... I am thinking about joing Costco.

I don't have a membership anymore, but I'd mostly get gum and granola bars for work. Oh and cheese, mmmmm. And TP and paper towels!

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

YES that's right, party stuff!! I hope to have one of those this year once our patio is done.

I wish they carried more eco friendly brands like Seventh Gen or Method. There are a few things I don't buy from regular commercial brands. I guess I'll have to keep getting those from Wild By Nature.

Thanks everyone! Chat Icon

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

I too was lurking on here but this post caught my eye:

I buy:

Box of cards (all occassions) - it's like $14.99 and the cards are gorgeous
Chicken Potstickers - delicious
Yoshida Marinade - again delicious
Peach / Mango Salsa (again, delicious)
Spinach / Mozzarella ravioli (again....)
Tank Tops (they fit great)
Sun screen
Scallops
Salad
Steaks
Papertowels
Toilet Paper
Detergent
Rubber Gloves
Sponges
Razors
Flower urns....they are like $24.99 - trust me so worth it, they are huge and will never break and if they do, they will probably take them back...return policy is amazing
Photo dept is great and cheap

ETA: one of the greatest things about Costco is their return policy

Re: I did it. I went to Costco.

We go to Costco all the time. I always buy the Perdue frozen chicken breasts and they have this awesome marinated Salmon that is frozen in individual pieces. You can cook it frozen so its great for those nights when you get home late. Their rotisserie chicken is also good and you can get a couple of meals out of one chicken because they are pretty big. We also buy all of our paper goods from there.

I know that at the holidays they have wrapping paper, and I know they usually have beautiful ribbon, however, not sure if they carry wrapping paper year long.
