even when we think we cant cope anymore, we always do and so will you. It is so hard watching your child be miserable and feeling so powerless. So again

I went through the exact same thing- I know how hard it is. It gets better!
My Katie is on zantac.

My Katie is on zantac.
Looks like my Katie will be on it too. She is fussing away in the other room (DH took her awy to give me a break - thank God). But Im giving her a full 24 hrs of the new formula like her dr suggested and then we'll give her Zantas.
How is your Katie with taking it? My dr said it tastes terrible. Katie actually likes the taste of Mylicon so its easy to get her to keep it in her mouth.

Re: I don't know how much more I can take
please be aware that any change in their diet/formula can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks for them to readjust!!! Each baby is different. I'd give the formula some more time before giving her a prescription....I KNOW it's hard but it does get better.

I'd STILL give it more than that before giving her zantac....she might just have an overly sensitive system. Alyson did and she grew out of it (slowly) to where she only has gas at night or with certain foods. She can pass the gas so much easier now!
ETA: if it is gas only....you should ask the ped. about natural methods....maybe some weak chamomile tea (known to aid in digestion) with no sugar. I've heard some people used that

Re: I don't know how much more I can take
I feel for you. I know how fustrating it can be. I was there back when my DS was ~2-3 months old. I dreaded 7 pm every evening, because that is when it would all begining. It went on for about 1 full month. Every night just hours of screaming & crying. We trying using Mylocon as often as you could give it, but over all...I don't think that was the problem. It just seemed to be a phase of his that he had to go through. Sort of like "colic" and all you could do is sit and rock. I would sing and sing until I was blue in the face. Just as he would fall asleep, he would pop back up and start all over again. I remember wanting to scream and telling DH I wanted to throw him out the window. Not that I ever would, that is just how fustrated I felt !!! All the hugs to you at this time. Just make sure your DH is helping you get through this, you can't do it alone.

I could have written this word for word... we were there too... Alex's "fussing" period lasted longer though, until about 4 months or so. It seems truly, truly unbearable, as if it will never end, but I promise, it WILL...

Kathy - how did she do last night????
Thanks for asking! It was a HUGE improvement and I dont know if it was the new formula or luck or what - maybe God!! LOL What ever it was, I am grateful.
She fussed from 10-11:30 and then went down. Up again at 1am, fed and changed and back down. Up again at 4am and fed, changed and did a huge poop (I've never been so happy to see poo!), she had a little trouble sleeping after the 4am feeding and was up for over an hour and a little fussy. She was up again at 7am and fed and put back down until about 9:30am when she was up again and fed/changed. She was REALLY gassy and crying in pain for this feeding. She passed some gas and was able to fall in to a light sleep but she keeps waking up with gas pain.
Last night was like heaven compared to the nights before where she would just scream and scream.
I dont think the formula could work that fast so Im thinkng its just a fluke thing. But what ever it is, I'll take the break from how it has been.
Please please cross your fingers that this new formula works. I have to go buy some more today because we dont have enough to get through the night.

Alimentum & zantac worked for Matt, he still had gas, but it made a world of difference. Try to get the zantac flavored it'll make it easier on all of you.

Glad you had a better night, I hope it works for you. PS-the ready to feed Alimentum smells way better than the powder. Not sure which one you're using. Also you can order it a little bit cheaper by the case from the manufacturer if that ends up being what she stays on. No shipping and they deliver right to your door.

Re: I don't know how much more I can take
Although our situation never got bad, I know how hard it is to hear your baby cry and just not know what to do to make her better.
I am hoping that Katie feels better soon and that you finally have a chance to rest and just enjoy motherhood without the added stress of knowing your baby is uncomfortable.
