I don't know what to do
On the way home, Cailen threw up all over himself and the car. He isn't feeling that great now (he NEVER throws up!!!) and I'm waitng to hear back from the dr....
Mean time, I am all alone. I cant get in touch with DH. I just gave Cai a bath (he was covered) but the car seat in the car is still covered and part of the car underneath. I can't leave him alone while I clean the car, and its getting dry and disgusting as I sit here
This is the first tme n a very long long tme i feel overwhelmend and just want to cry

Is your car far from the house?

Re: I don't know what to do
Can you run out and bring the carseat inside to clean that out at least?
Hope this was the worst of it...hang in there!!!

Re: I don't know what to do
It's going to be okay! These things happen....just stay with him. You can always get a steam/cleaner later on. The car seat cover can be thrown in the laundry so don't worry about that!
I hope your day gets better and that Cailen feels better!

Re: I don't know what to do
Think of anything you have that can contain him for 15 minutes: crib, stroller, high chair by the door with some food?

Re: I don't know what to do
Um, this EXACT same thing happened to me last week. DD threw up at my MIL's house, I picked her up and drove her home, she threw up ALL OVER herself & the carseat. I used a diaper from her diaper bag to take off some of the clumps (TMI, sorry) before lifting her out of the carseat...carried her against me in my nice white work shirt that had to be tossed. Got her cleaned up as best as I could (she had a fever so I didn't do a full bath)...then I called her ped, they said to bring her in to check her out, so I had to hold my clingy, feverish girl while I tried to wipe puke out of the carseat so I could put her back in it. It was a task.
Honestly, we didn't give it a full cleaning until the next day, and it was HOT last week. DH scrubbed it with a toothbrush (not mine ) and used soap & water on it, and it's back to normal.
Don't stress about it tonight...really. I know it sounds gross, but it will be fine until tomorrow, esp. since it's not hot out today. Our car didn't even smell the next day, and it was hot out. Not that I'm a sloppy person normally, but we did what we had to do.
Hope he feels better soon

Thanks I'm worried the dr. will tell me to bring him in and I'll have to put him back in the pukey seat - i still smell puke - he was eating cheese crackers
Luckily I was wearing a jean jacket over my white shirt, plus on frdas daycare sends back the bedding, so I put a blanket around him to seal his puke in
The worst was he did it in traffic on jericho tpk and was cryng and holding is arms out for me to hold him, and then he passed out a few minutes later...

Do you have a cordless phone? Is it within that range to run to the car if you want to get the seat out?

Re: I don't know what to do
Worst case scenario, and the doc does tell you to bring him in, put a sheet down on the seat so that you are still able to put his clips on, and take him and go!
It can always be washed tomorrow!

I feel for you, I really do. We were close to home, but not close enough. And watching it happen, she didn't know what was happening, she was so scared/upset. I actually went to the doc's in my work pants and one of DH's t-shirts b/c it was on the top of the clean laundry pile
First-- will the phone work at the car-- is it in range you think for a cordless?
If yes-- can you take him out, put him in the passenger seat with his sippy & a book/toy, and you get in the back (since it's raining) and try to wipe out his seat the best you can? Don't worry about the actual seat under the carseat-- if he's not touching it, you can worry about it later.

And he is all clean and cozy now drinking his juice - I dont want to move him - he cried when I moved him - I thnk he's achy He was such an angel in the bath, sitting there and letting me clean him up...

Re: I don't know what to do
OK - dr. called... I dont have to bring him in - I'll go get the car seat - timing is amazing - we had to get a new washing machine (the old one blew out on us ) if this happened yesterday I would have had to go a laundromat.
I'm having a hell of a week.

Have your DH take a hairdryer to it when he gets home
