I dropped my iPhone in the toilet and I have two questions...
It was only in there for like two seconds; nevertheless, two horrifying seconds! So...

the rice works. not sure about the texts but Groupon Goods has a special on Otterbox's. Now that I have one i dont know what I did before it.

I dropped my iPhone in the toilet and I have two questions...
I dropped mine in the kids bath tub and put it in rice for 2 days and it works fine now!!! Turn it off and DO NOT turn it on under any circumstances. Not sure if you can read your texts online…?
ETA: In addition to doing the rice, I also took the edge of a paper towel and ran it along all of the edges of the phone including slightly inside where the charger goes to absorb any additional water. Good luck!

Dropped mine in the pool, fell into a ledge, was submerged for maybe 3sec, I let it dry out and left it in rice overnight and it did work. I think it really depends how long it was under? Is it working at all?

Did the same thing, in rice for 3 days and mine did not work after that. But I have heard many phones that do work after the rice. Just turn it off out it in there and leave it for at least 24hrs. Don't use it!

I don't think the RICE itself is the issue, but it cant hurt,
Let the phone COMPLETLY dry for like 3 days. 1 day should be fine...but be safe and give it time to dry.

I haven't done it so I'm not sure, but I have a friend who works the front desk at a hotel and she said they keep a bucket of rice in the back for when this happens to people. I thought that was really funny and I guess that means it really works?

I feel so bad that this happened (but of course am trying not to laugh a little at the *pleasesayyes*) ... and you should know that my first thought was -- ah crap. Can't text her now.

Rice works! We accidentally left our Bose portable speaker and iPod outside on night and it rained. Put both items in a giant bag of rice for an entire weekend and both work perfectly.

Yes, for this, absolutely! Took my phone about a full day in the rice to get better (I did it last summer)... It wasn't 100% but worked. Also, Ubreakitifix did a great job with DH's which went through a full wash cycle.
