I've noticed some posters have kind of fallen off- Libragal and Tumbelina come to mind immediately. I know there was a post about Libragal recently though.

I've felt that after the "Bannings of December 2006" many former "regulars" have kind of chosen to stop/slow their activity.

I like that we have more new people coming in- but often wonder about the posters of yore....

Who were you think about Rachel?

Hi Sweetie! Thanks for thinking of me!

I think there are a handful of previously avid posters that I don't see anymore but I wasn't paying close attention so maybe there are a lot of them.

I think that there is a pretty good diversity of topics. When I want a through provoking discussion, I can usually find one. When I want light and fun reading I can find it.

The only difference I see is that as there are lot of people who may not have time to read everything but as they have been on the site longer, they know whose posts they want to respond to, so the threads from people who know a lot of people get more activity. Also, some people stick together and always have posts on each other's threads. If I get flamed for coming out and saying that, so be it. It is not necessarily a terrible thing. It just happens.

Could we please stop the flaming about cliques and who posts more on what nots posts.. im sick of reading those. Who cares who posts what on what. Im still a newbie i guess, and since i been on here thats all i read .. its boring.

I do not see my post as flaming and I did not intent it to be flaming. I was calling it as I see it and I was not even saying that the site is cliquey. In fact, I am quite comfortable talking to almost everyone. I was explaining why some threads are longer than others and why some people might see it a certain way. Big deal. What I am sick of is being told what is appropriate to discuss and what is not.

i wasnt saying you were flaming, you mentioned " If I get flamed for coming out and saying that, so be it. It is not necessarily a terrible thing. It just happens.", so i was saying in regards to that.. that no one should flame you for saying.. i was agreeing with you, not disagree... (sorry if you took it that way)

Oh, okay. I forgot I even said that part. I think it is a shame that things have gotten to the point where I felt that I needed to feel defensive before anyone even responded to me. Sure, I can blame myself for that but I picked up that feeling somewhere. Now I see what you meant. I do sometimes take a step back and wonder what this site might look like to new people. ETA: Sorry for the confusion and defensiveness.

I also think people branch off to other boards and become Avid posters there. I posted all the time on NFR but once I had dd I pretty much stayed on parenting. I see alot of regulars on parenting. Also, in diet and fitness and pregnancy as well.

Re: I feel like a lot of posters have "disappeared"....

Honestly...

I go to these boards in this order:

Parenting
Fitness
Home
Gossip
Fashion
and then NFR

NFR USED to be my first or second choice and then things kinda changed. I felt inclined to "defend" myself, my beliefs and how I choose to live my life almost on a daily basis from three posters in particular who are ALWAYS inciting drama on NFR.

Then a light bulb went off. I thought, "this is not worth it, I am who I am and I do not have to prove that to ANYONE". So now, I stay away from thought provoking, drama filled topics. Although, I loved the intellectual stimulation, I can get that on the days that I work.

I went through open heart surgery and that was enough drama for three lifetimes, so I decided not to post on political, religious, drama, "what should I do (for 100th time)" threads. Silly, but it was really making me upset some of the stuff that was written, not about "me" but about certain religious sects, races, and entire groups of people. I felt that I had to write something b/c I felt I was one of a handful to come to the defense of these groups of people. Then, I decided that the fight I have inside myself is better off used in the gym, in my work and for my family.

Sorry for such a long post, but that is why I do not post as much anymore.
