Re: I feel so plain..
Tourist - you know that Sephora will give you samples of all of the make up so you can test the items out at home. They will make one for you in all the foundation colors to help you. Also did you do the color IQ? That might help you with foundation colors. I had a lot of luck with the Marc Jacobs line for foundation and concealer. hth

Re: I feel so plain..
I have a train kit of make up. Mostly eye shadows.
My every day makeup is mascara and I powder my nose.
I used to wear foundation every day but when I got pg my skin cleared up like crazy so I cut out all face makeup. It's gradually getting bad again but I will not go back to face makeup. I should take prenatals. LOL.
If I'm feeling pale, I put on Benetint. It is my most favorite blush ever. SO natural looking. And I love the smell - smells like roses.

Yes, I have gotten samples in the past.. I like the foundations I use. Most of them I have used for years (I rebuy MUFE HD in 117 all the time). I just change my mind about the formula & finish I like at any given time. And I like new things! I blame You Tube!
I haven't used color match b/c I found the other colors that work for me before they had that system. (Except for Hourglass which is new, but a rep helped me.)

whoa..$1K in makeup!!
I know--I didn't realize it was so much until they told me. I am not usually a big spender on clothes, bags, etc. I am trying to just use this stuff up & not buy anything else for a while.
A few of these things I did use up & re-purchase--on of the pressed powders broke right after I bought it & I loved it so I re-purchased.
It's mostly face stuff, so not that exciting, but since you wanted to see; here is my list from Sephora's website.
ETA- I am not bragging at all. This is more of a confession. (edited to remove giant list)
Wow! Ok now I REALLY feel plain! Haha
You should feel smart & frugal. I spend too much $ on makeup--it's sort of a hobby. Also, I am not confident enough to go with little make up. I admire people who are.
That's actually why I just re-bought Bare minerals--I am trying to go lighter once in a while.
Not today though--I have on my heavy duty Hourglass, b/c I will be out of my house for about 13 hours and meeting new people about 10 hours after I put my makeup on.

I'm not really into mascara, but I'll curl my lashes with the end if a bic pen cap.
Can you tell me more about this???
I take a bic pen cap and carefully holding the end of the cap with my right hand put the extended part of the cap over my eyelashes and put my left index finger (palm of hand up) under my lashes. then I press and sweep upwards like as if curling ribbon with one half of a scissors. repeat as often as needed to get that curled up look. hope that makes sense lol. it takes a bit of practice not to poke yourself in the eye but simple once you get the hang of it! my aunt taught me that trick many yrs. ago.

Re: I feel so plain..
I would get a Sephora Favorites kit to try out a lot of different things at once. Give Me Some Lip Give Me More Lip Glitz and Glam Lash Stash
This way you have lots of items to choose from. Also, I am not sure if it is kosher, but right now is the sephora friends and family event. You would need a code emailed to you from a sephora associate but it can't hurt to ask. The codes are 20% off. If not, right now they are running a game/contest CALLED BEAUTY FALL for 10% off or deluxe samples or free shipping.

Re: I feel so plain..
The key is, no matter how much or how little you apply - you want it to look like a nice and clean application and you just want to enhance the natural beauty that your face already has.
Daily I apply:
MAC under eye concealer (liquid) with a brush, I dab literally a q-tip sized dot under each eye and spread with the brush. It's all you need just to even out the difference in skin tone there.
MAC studio fix powder foundation but it is a firm powder so it has great coverage without being liquid. Again, applied with a brush. My MAC brushes are the best investment I ever made because application is everything.
Eyeliner - MAC pencil (I have a few - sometimes I use Teddy, sometimes liquid, sometimes another pencil)... Some smudge for smokey eyes, some stay put, so it depends. I either do just the top lid, just the bottom, or both -- depending on where I'm going. Daily and no big deal stuff just a thin line on top and that's it. Also, if there's any step I sometimes skip all-together if I'm just running out, it is this one.
Mascara is everything to me lol people sometimes ask if my lashes are fake because they are long... It's not me but they are not fake either! The secret is MAC prep and prime lash primer/conditioner. It is a cream like substance applied with a mascara wand that will allow you to put ANY mascara over it and it'll look amazing. You can buy expensive mascara or cheap - doesn't matter! So, I do that and then apply mascara. I like the five dollar one that's hot pink on the bottom of the case and hot green on top. Buy it at cvs lol works great.
Blush - I'm super pale, blush is key. One on the cheeks and then another that has a slight shimmer to highlight the top cheek. Again, MAC and MAC brushes - the ppl there are great at nailing your good colors for your skin shade.
Eye shadow - sometimes, not always. Usually if I'm going somewhere. I love mac's shadows. Jest is my all-time fave. They have shimmery glittery ones now too.
Lips - I just do an colored gloss. MAC has great options for this.
HTH!
