I finally got into a good workout groove and I hurt my back (NOT diet and fitness related!!)

I'm really depressed - I wen on Sunday even though it was hurting and had to keave early... now I cant go tonight, and probably not for the rest of the week...

What should I do?

It hurts when I make sudden movements on my lower left side...

Any suggestions? I cuold cry - I was finally getting into shape again... plus, everytime I go to lift Cailen, it hurts (I lift with my legs, btw) - but when I take him out of the bath, its always an awkward position and I think its how I did it in the 1st place...

Any suggestions?

How long will this take to go away? When could I start doing kickboxing again?

Please reassure me this will get better soon - I feel like such crap. I love my classes... It helps me unwind, I love the group, I love how it makes me feel, and now I have to be stuck at home....

DH told me to go for a walk or lift weights at home, but it doesnt make me feel the same way. I did all that when I was on maternity leave and it didnt yield the same results kick boxing did....

I just need to hear that this will get better soon... Chat Icon

After being pregnant our bodies can get injured more easily. I was a major workout junkie before DD and now I get injured all the time.

My advice is to take it slow- it is so easy to hurt yourself nowChat Icon

I would take it easy until it feels better. You could try alternating cold then heat. See what works the best for you. I would start out slow when you do return to more vigerous exercise. You don't want to risk things.Chat Icon Feel better.Fm me anytime if you want any more tips!

Liza, take it easy!!! You have to give your body some time to heal. I know it doesn't give the same results but going for a walk is better than nothing.

Hope you feel better soon!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Don't worry, you'll be back to kick-boxing in no time!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

When it comes to working out, if you have pain....stop that activity. Unfortunately your back is the center of all your activities and you will find that just about everything you do is linked to it...that is why it's your core.

The best thing you can do for it is stretch and rest. When it is finally feeling better, give it 2-3 more days to fully heal, so you do no re-injure it. The worst thing you can do is make it worse or damage it further, because then you really won't be able to exercise!

Liza

I'm sorry you got hurt in class. I actually saw you leave early. My experience with class, if you hurt, don't go, even if you did a modified work out, you will most likely injure it more.

Take a week off, stretch, go for walks - try and do something but don't overdue it.

I've hurt myself in the past and that's what did it for me, rest up. Don't worry you're not out of commission!!!
