I got a quote for power washing and waterproofing my deck today
I almost fell over. Based on no facts whatsoever, I had it in my head that it would be around $350. Well, the esitmate I got today was $885!!!! from Precision Painting  I have another guy coming tomorrow.
Is this really how much it costs? Our deck is 34 x 16.

My DH has always done it himself (our deck is only 300 sq. ft. though [20x15 ft]). That just sounds like a lot to me

I am all for "delegation" but for $885 you can buy a good power washer and use it every year.

we did it ourselves too, I did the powerwashing, DH did the staining.
A deck that size will probably take three or four days for one guy or two days for two guys-either way 4 man days, IMO you won't find anybody for $350 for four man days.

that is high. I guess DH & I will be buying a power washer soon and doing this ourselves. You can get power washers for under $200, then plus the stain. We are getting sick of the chores every weekend too.

that seems like allot of $$$
We used someone a few years ago and I dont remember it being super expensive. I do not remember their names right now but I will look tonight when I get home and give you the info.

We got a bunch of quotes last season and they ranged from $300-$800. The $300 guys refused to stain and would only powerwash and clear-coat the deck. We definitely want stain.
Of course we ended up doing nothing last season b/c we were just too house poor to think about $800.
According to 1 guy that we really like the stain/sealer/deck bleach/chemicals was going to run about $250 alone.
We are in the process of revisiting this for this summer and need to get some new estimates. Not sure if I kept my old estimate but I will look around and see if there is anyone i can reco.
It is a big job and takes mult days b/c of the drying factor.

I just got another estimate this morning - $375! From Steve's Ultimate Powerwashing and Painting. That's more like what we wanted to spend.

I did this one year with DH and it wasn't too hard, but a PITA if your time is limited and I see you have a little baby in your avatar
I was glad to have done it once but in teh future we'll definitely hire someone.
$375 sounds like a great deal! That reminds me, I should call for my own deck
