I guess I belong here...a few questions

Hi girls,

I got a BFP on Thanksgiving and was thrilled. I started bleeding like my period yesterday and today I took a HPT and it was BFN Chat Icon I'm calling the doctor tomorrow to see if I need to go in for bloodwork or do anything, but I wanted to talk here for a little first and I hope you don't mind :)

I ovulated November 2-4th based on bbt and cm.... so the most I could have been was 20something days pg. If I hadn't taken the test on Thanksgiving, I never would have known and it would have been a missed miscarriage. My period was due last Tuesday, so that's why I checked on Thursday.

A few questions:

1. Does this bleeding count right now as my period? Meaning, will I ovulate (hopefully) according to my usual cycle?

2. If I do o as expected in a week or so, is there any harm in trying to conceive again?

3. Anything specific I should ask the doctor tomorrow besides the obvious?

4. This was my first BFP and our first month of really trying/charting. Is there any chance we'll get this lucky again soon after a m/c?

This is so emotionally draining and we were just aware of the baby for a few days. Chat Icon

Thanks in advance for the support and answers

Re: I guess I belong here...a few questions

I miscarried around 7 weeks back in March. I was told to wait 3 cycles which Is extremely long but I did it and followed his advice. To be honest, It was the best thing. We were able to relax for a few months and forget the whole TTC process. I am convinced that's why he told us that. I have heard a lot of people that get pregnant right away and its okay and others that should have waited. Your doc should be able to give you that advice. I can't remember your other questions but if you need anything, I am here to talk. It gets easier every day! Sorry to hear you are going thru it Chat Icon

I'm so sorry for your loss.

What you are going through is called a Chemical Pregnany. A Missed Miscarriage is something different. I had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks back in January. That's a miscarriage without any bleeding, etc. Basically the baby's heart stops beating and it's discovered during a routine doctor's appt. The medical term for a missed miscarriage is actually a missed abortion which is crazy sounding to me.

A Chemical Pregnancy, which is your situation, is a VERY early on miscarriage; usually withing days of getting pregnant (gestational time). Often women don't even know they are pregnant yet. Some get a BFP on a HPT and then days later they get what appears to be their period.

From what I've heard from girls who have had Chemical Pregnancies, they were able to start trying again that cycle. Some were told by their doctor to wait at least 1 cycle, but I think for the most part you can start trying again that same cycle.

I know of a few girls who had a chemical and then got pregnant the very next cycle, other girls it can take a few cycles.

I believe this would also count as your period. And you most likely should O within a normal time frame. Since you weren't pregnant for very long your levels will drop back down faster... which they have since you got a BFN recently.

I'm sorry again.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: When I mc at 11 weeks, I was told to wait 1 cycle to start trying again.

I was told to wait 2 cycles but decided on waiting 7. I wasn't ready to try again.
