I hate my block...
DS is an extremely light sleeper and I feel like it's done on purpose when the garbage truck passes by 3 times in one hour, or when a loud truck roars by. Oh not to mention that stupid *** truck that cleans the street, that needs to pass by twice?! When there is snow you won't see a plow truck come by yet this stupid cleaning truck has to come roaring by? what for? what does it clean??? The streets are always dirty!
It just seems like all these dumb *** trucks come down our block on purpose! What the hell!

Do you have a white noise machine? We use cds for our kids to go to sleep since we live off of a main road.

I live on a quiet street but always use the fan in the kitchen when DD takes naps as she sleeps longer when its on.

Does the white noise machine work? I've tried playing CD's but these freaking *** trucks are really loud and nosiy!

I use a noise machine and keep the a/c on Fan mode.
The garbage trucks come around here at 5:45 in the morning and woke DD today... suc ks!

I live a couple blocks away from a lumber yard so starting at 4:00am we hear them... DS is a light sleeper and used to wake up all the time... I purchased the iCrib and play Mozart on my iPod and he sleeps right through now

of course they're going by on purpose, they have to pick up the garbage and clean the streets...
i agree with the other ladies...maybe getting a white noise machine would help drown out the noise...
or, try getting DS used to falling asleep with a little music in the background, that when when the trucks come by it won't disturb him that much...

I understand, sometimes it feels like come on already! I have a kid down the street with an extremely loud muffler that goes by a bunch of times during the day. Now, I know he doesn't do it on purpose but I'm like come on already! It usually wakes the baby up when he goes by b/c it is SO loud.
Funny the things we notice now that we have napping babies!
Try the white noise, it helped us a lot to get our son to sleep longer.

i so feel your pain! we live on a very busy intersection in Queens and my son constantly wakes up from the ***** police and fire trucks passing by!!!
It pis s es me off to no end!! those aholes are totally doing it on purpose too! I mean, it is 1 in the afternoon on a Tuesday, it is not like they need to get through traffic! They turn on the siren and let it rip for up to 3 minutes, I guess they get off on attracting attention and making themselves feel important by creating all that crazy noise! This is not a industrial neighbourhood!!! These are all appartment buildings with alot of kids living in each one of them!! Have some respect!!!
I can;t stand those people, they are suppose to protect us not disturb out peace!

yes, and sometimes she still is. we got a lullaby cd from buy buy baby, i think it is baby einstein. when she naps i try the fan and she naps in her swing as well. at night she sleeps in her bouncer chair in the crib due to reflux and we have the fan on and the cd running.
check out amazon, they have alot of sleep aids.

The white noise CD I got was from Babies R Us, for $6.99! I forget what it is called but it has a vacuum and other white noises on there.... I used to just put the one on repeat.

Sharper Image also sells a white noise machine. It was the best $$ I ever spent, it drowns out hubby's snoring!
