I hate my family
So, I fessed up to my family about what's been going on.
My father's response: "oh"
My brother's response: "Well, you have Alex, you should just be happy with that"
My mother's response: "I'm sorry, but hey, that's life"

I'm sorry. I hope they realize how insensitive they were and apologize. Sometimes when peole are faced with a difficult situation, they can act inappropriately.
People also just don't understand unless they have been through it.

My family doesnt quite get it either. I tell her about my bloodwork and the PCOS and the not ovulating and then she says something like "You two just need to 'do it every day'". I feel like she's not even listening to me. If it was that simple I wouldnt be PUTTING myself through this
DH on the other hand thinks he's being supportive by saying I love you no matter what and I didnt marry you to have children I married you because I love you" And I know what he's trying to say but its not helpful. I want him to say We WILL have a baby. No room for failure!!!!
I think people just dont know what to say and really dont understand

I'm so sorry. I think sometimes people just don't know how to respond and really don't understand what we are going through. It's good to have people on here to talk about it with because we all know how hard it is.

I am very very sorry, that you'd experience that from your family.
However, I want to say, that maybe they just don't know what to say to you and express it appropiately.
I am sure they don't know what to say?? that does happen, and you know them better than us here.

I have gotten very similar responses from some of my family. I know in my case these things were said meaning to be helpful and comforting. Its amazing how people just dont get it sometimes.

Unfortunately, I'm not all that suprised by the reactions. This has been the running theme in my family for years, with the exception of my father, who is just too overwhelmed with his own health issues to take an interest in much of anything else.
To my mother's credit, she followed up her call with a more sincere email expressing her sympathy. I think she may have sensed that her initial response really upset me 
It doesn't matter because I have all the support I need on here, from my incredibly supportive friends, and from my amazing DH

It is really hard for them to truly understand what is going on! I remember when I was younger (before I was married) I knew I had PCOS and that having children would be hard and my mother responded with "If you want something bad enough, you will do what is necessary" And I thought to myself, "This lady is nuts! She has no idea what it is like to learn you may never have children!
She was uber supportive duriing the entire process and tried to learn as much as she could, eventhough she confused most of it! LOL....But, in the end she was right!
People who haven't experienced infertility don't know how to respond to it! Know that we are here for you!

My mother just the other night when I told her we were moving to IVF in January, told me that due to our age, perhaps we should forget IVF and move right to adoption. Gee..thanks for the support mom.
