I have a question about eye glass frames
so I got new glasses yesterday at Pearle and I did not see 1 set of frames for under $180. I'm not talking about the designer brands like D&G, Versace, Prada, etc... those were $290.
all the regular plain frames were $180.
thank goodness I have vision insurance, I only paid $43 for everything including the exam.
but anyway - DH and I went to BJ's today and just b/c I was curious, I took a look at their frames and they had some of the same EXACT frames for $60!
what's that about?

i got new glasses a few weeks ago and at first i thought i wanted chanel or prada or something designer. then i decided i didn't want to spend that much... the "non-designer" frames i got were still $260!!! what is that about??

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
I have never been to Pearle but I know from experience that Cohen's is a huge rip off too!

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
I'm in the market for new glasses soon. Do you think I should check out what Price Club has to offer? I'd love a pair of designer frames. Do they carry them?

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
My Optometrist has designer glasses & does not overcharge. He also can guarantee certain frames. I can give you the info if you like.
DH had bought a pair of Nike frames at PV for $600. They were supposedly indestructible with a guarantee. Well needless to say when they broke we were S O L. They wanted the original receipt. We went to our new eye doctor & not only was he able to fix them, but he sold the same frames for $180. I got my Coach sunglasses there for $140

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
The actual cost to produce eyeglass frames is only pennies, they have a GIGANTIC mark up. Its amazing.

IMO - try them on at a regular store and when you find something you like, buy it online. I liked a pair of Versace frames that I saw at Pearle for $290... so I took note of the model #. when I got home I found them online for $120!

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
I always pay at least 300, and that is INCLUDING the discount I get with the insurance

Re: I have a question about eye glass frames
i have a plan thru empire at work- $10 frames, $5 Exam... well I spent $140 inc tax once I was done. Yes they were the $10 frames- but added the Transition(sunglasses feature) and anti scratch, anti glare, and UV)
Before this plan ive gotten eyeglasses at Wize Eyes. $45 inc tax for a basic pair, $45 for a sunglasses pair. I cant remember how much the extra features were though...
