I have come to terms with the fact that tomorrow will not just rain..but pour (Update)
And that's largely because:
1. So many wonderful people here posted and FM'd great stories about all the fun they had in similar situations and lots of great advice. Yet another reminder of the amazing people here and how much you all touch my life.
2. The tent went up yesterday and it is huge and looks great. We have panels with windows for all four sides.
3. Barb said something really important to me yesterday.....it's all about the attitude...and that got me thinking about how to turn this around. So we decided to put Christmas lights up tonight in the tent!  Something so little just got me all happy again...I think it will be fun.
4. He might not remember this party but I will...and I will always remember the people that came out regardless of the weather...maybe seeing the pictures year from now will give him the same sense of love and pride for the people we call friends and family. I am so grateful by the number of people that have already said rain or shine they are there. I don't know how we are so deserving to have so many wonderful people in our lives. 
So let's party!!!!!!!!! 
Update:
So the weather report says STRONG STORM for the whole chunck of time of the party  
Can I just ask for some good wishes that even if it rains it's not torential? Thanks!!!

Awww Ang - you're so right! Everyone is going to have an amazing time - rain or shine!!! They are all there to celebrate Little Lucas Turning One!!!

Ang - I think you should put a pool out, a sprinkler & have kiddie umbrellas all over the lawn.
Glad you're having fun with it!
My 20th high school reunion ( ) was outdoors at a beach & pouring. My kids were dancing in the rain & mud for hours. They had an excellent time. The best part of the reunion was watching everyone's kids run around trying to catch rain drops in their mouths. I couldn't have asked for a better time.

I think it will be great! Years ago I went to a party where it poured and we all had a great time anyway under the tents.

It's going to be a GREAT party
OK, it's not a first b-day party but the other night I went to see some relatives visiting from Europe. We had such a great time telling stories and joking with one another. We were CRAMMED into my dad's cousin's house in Hicksville due to the downpours... wall to wall people... I was practically sitting on my second cousin Vinny's lap who I haven't see since 1982... it was HOT... we were all sweaty... loud, crowded and I had the BEST time I have had in ages and ages!! I think we had a better time because it rained.
It is truly about the people who will be there. Lucas will be srrounded by those who love him. Nothing else matters.

You were right about the tent guys. They were great and really put a lot of thought into the placement of the tent. They decided not to go all the way back because there is a section of dirt near the fence...they wanted to leave some space for the grass to absorb any mud that might run off...That was really cool!

We were so happy with them!! And I've seen that tent - it can keep out all the rain that can fall!!!! We used the sides to keep out the wind (as it got later in the day, the wind picked up). It will be perfect!!
