I have to take Seamus to see the neurosurgeon - Who has had experience with flathead syndrome?
We have an appointment on Feb 20th He still has a very distinct flat spot on the back of his head. It has gotten a lot better since he has started sitting up, but no matter how we place him in the crib, he always sleeps on the same side of his head!
They ped recommended we go and get a consultation. She said the docotr may say its fine or he may need to waer one of the helmets to help re shape his head! The ped didnt seem too worried, she said it was just better we go and get it checked out!
I dont think the spot is too bad, buy my MIL keeps sending me husband articles about flat head syndrome etc, and I think she had freaked him out a bit!

We might be headed in the same direction as you. At our last appt in Dec. DS has flat head on the side, bc he ALWAYS looks to the left when he sleeps. There is nothing making him look that way, thats just how its been since he was born. There is also concern that his right neck muscles are not as developed as the left.
We have been doing a lot of tummy time, naps on his tummy, bumbo, and encouraging him to look right. We'll see what happens at our next appt.

Have you considered seeing a physical therapist about the favoring one side? They can do and teach you exercises to get him to move those muscles the other way...this way his isn't always in the same position.
DS had torticollis and although didn't have flat head we were told the two go hand in hand.
If you can get your son to move the other way...and the doctors agree the flat head can be helped by doing this...it's worth a shot.
