I can only hope that would hurt him. It seems like a really bad move IMO, but maybe he thinks having her on the ticket will attract the minority/women vote to counteract Hillary Clinton and Obama.

Perhaps, but she is not a common minority as a Republican who is African American. She is pretty conservative and frankly I find her unnapproachable in terms of how she presents herself. I dont see many minority women identifying with her at all. JMO.

Re: I just heard McCain's possible running mate is...
nothing is set yet, it's just speculation. i copied this from fox news:
"On the Republican side, John McCain will select a VP with solid conservative credentials. He has to. If Condoleezza Rice wants the job, Senator McCain might consider her, or as we sit here, Mitt Romney."

Not for nothing, but that link is a story from Bill O'Reilly. This isn't breaking news, it's an op-ed.
She has previously stated she has no desire for elected office. While I think she is a dynamic person, I also believe she is done.
On another note - there are many "Bush Administration" folks that are doing good jobs in other depts that will surely be around no matter who takes the Oval Office.

Re: I just heard McCain's possible running mate is...
I didn't read the article. There are a lot of people speculating about running mates. Some people feel that with Condi as a running mate it will alleviate the guilt people will feel about voting for the white male versus the woman or the black man. So it will free the t=voters conscience to vote for McCain.
if he did this it would only be more proof to me that he's running as Bush's 3rd term.

It's a rumor - that was posted by Bill O'Reilly. Not inside information. It was his opinion.
I'm a McCain supporter and I don't feel any of the guilt you described because I am not a democrat. Plain and simple.
I am sure you know since you follow this closely, McCain and President Bush have strong differences on their stances outside of the war and thus it would be hard for McCain to run a "Bush 3rd Term" campaign. In fact, the conservatives supported Bush previously while McCain is having a difficult time getting their vote.

I am a democrat and I agree with this.
McCains biggest problem is that he is NOT fully a "party man"
the whole Bush 3rd term is propaganda, IMO.
ETA: I don't think he'll go Condi...it is just TOOOO obvious.
Romney is an option, if McCain and Romney cover more ground together than Huckabee would.
Romney's drop from the office seems like it was a PARTY decision....I think the repubs want to see which way the pendulum is swinging and polarizing the primaries with McCain and Huckabee is an intersting way to do it.

you're right.
what makes me laugh - all the republicans saying just that - that he is not a "party man". it's like they want to blame mccain because people in their own party are voting for him!

Yep. I know it's a rumor, which is why I said "there is a lot of speculation"
The guilt thing didn't come from my mouth. I'm not sure where I read/heard it. I'm in election news 24/7. I also think it was more meant to describe swing voters. I don't think hardcore republicans are going to feel guilty not voting for the liberal black dude.
Yes, McCain is a lot more "moderate" than Bush, and i do respect his history of independence and doing what he thinks is right. But I also see him trying VERY hard to get the conservative vote, and I'm afraid his supporters are going to be very disappointed and he's going to walk the party line a lot more closely to get elected. Maybe this won't happen. I hope it doesn't. We need politicians who are willing to do what they think is right.
But the dealbreaker for me with McCain is his support of the war and his refusal to acknowledge that it was a mistake. I can't believe that ANYONE thinks the war was a good idea and it really makes me questions his judgement and moreso integrity because I think he's too smart to actually think Iraq posed a threat.

I get what you are saying but I don't think there is a lot speculation on the Condi front...Bill's op-ed is the first I heard about it and I literally am in knee-deep in it just like you.
So, just so I'm clear again...you don't like Bush?

No, but other people...either CNN on the Times at this point, since I hate Bill O Liellly. have also expressed that he should have a black or female running mate, or a black, female running mate.
I think even republicans (the regular people, not washington) are tired of the same old faces from the Bush administration.

Well I suppose "good job" is subjective, but Clinton has said that she would like Colin Powell to work for her administration if she were to be President.
