Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
My DH ran for his life that day from those collapsing building and came within an inch of his life....this experience is nothing we need to see up on the screen
So NO we will not be seeing it

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
My husband is a fire fighter with the FDNY. He was there that day and lost many dear friends. He worked rescue and recovery of a year.
He has health issues and nightmares because of it - I don't need this movie to remind me of September 11. I'm reminded everyday.

Besides the fact of the horrible situation-have you heard the fake NY accents? They all sound like they're from Boston

Got to stick my $.02 in here so hope you don't mind.
FYI - lost my brother in law that day. He worked in tower one for Cantor Fitzgerald.
My opinion! This was one of the most horrendous events to ever happen on this planet. The men and women that we depend upon to supply us with "entertainment" have taken it upon themselves to capitalize on this event! This is not "entertainment", is it? This is an attempt for producers etc to line their pockets at the expense of a tragedy that as you can see by the comments in this thread still has a deep emotional effect on us all. Dear Hollywood, scrap the movie, take your losses as you should have never ever produced this in the first place and replace it with a movie that a family can go see as "entertainment".
Opinion Over!

and started to tear up right away. I thought that I would be able to go see the movie and be okay with it, but now I don't think I can do it. I couldn't even watch a 30 second commercial. Maybe it's just too soon.
Will any of you be seeing it at the movies?
i bawled during the 5 min trailer and tear up when they even discuss it on news or talk shows so my answer is a big fat NO

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
I can't see the commercial without getting anxious and upset. There's no way I could sit through a whole movie.
IMO, it's just too soon still. Although I don't know if it will ever be the right time.

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
as far as the timing goes, i don't think there would ever be a "good" time. i think of saving private ryan and pearl harbor, both about WWII. sad movies

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
I would only go if ALL proceeds were donated to help the victims and their families. But, since that's not happening, I'm not spending a penny to go see it.

I actually went to the premier of the movie. I have to say I definately shed tears, and so did everyone in the theatre.

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
hmmm... fox news reported tonight that a percentage (total of 10%) of opening weekend sales will go to various 9/11 charities.
timing of the announcement makes me wonder
and this still doesn't change my mind about the movie.

DH and I will definately NOT be watching that movie. MY DH worked in Tower 2 of the WTC on the 69th floor. He BARELY made it out. (Literally, as he was running, the towers crashed behind him). He saw death and carnage all around him and really suffered post traumatic stress. I was 4 months pregnant with our first child and in my classroom teaching when a coworker came in my room and told me to call my DH immediately. He (of course) could not be reached, I found out what was happening, and had a breakdown. I did not get in touch with my DH for 4 hours. All believed him to be dead. Finally around 11:30, we were reunited. Just typing this right now, I am hysterical crying. I actually had to go to the obgyn that day to have a sono because I thought I lost the baby. (HE was fine thak God). My doc still says he'll never forget the day when we saw him and my DH was covered in soot head to toe and I was as pale as a ghost. Scariest day of my life!!! So no...I will never see this movie...DH and I lived it.
I am hysterically crying just reading this - thank GOD your husband made it out.
I was also downtown that day, and I would never see this movie.
Thanks. I just cried again re-reading what I wrote. Every 9/11 anniversary, every time I hear any word of terrorism threats, every time anything reminds me of that horrific day...i really just break down. My Dh still works in NYC (2 blocks from Ground Zero). I still fear losing him daily. Every morning I have to wake up and wave to his car as he pulls out of the driveway (and he doesn't even know I do this) to drive himself to the LIRR because I'm so afraid that if I don't, something will happen. I started this after he returned to work after 9/11 and I can't stop. He carried rosary beads in his pants pocket for almost a year after 9/11. Every day he comes home, I thank God. I can't believe this movie is being made. Why relive the most horrible day Americans have ever known? I just don't understand.

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
No way...as a New Yorker and an American I don't need some movie studio reliving that day for me...it's a day that I will NEVER forget and will always as be clear as the skies were that day. It makes me sick that Hollywood was allowed to get their hands on something as emotional and life denting as 9/11...I refuse to support their decision in making this movie by going to see it...

Re: I just saw the commercial for the World Trade Center movie
I agree that it is too soon.
I usually like to be on vacation the week of 9/11 so I am not home watching the footage over and over- it took me so long to get past it. Like so many, it still haunts my memory, it still hurts.
I went back to work after 9/11 ( fist week of Oct) as a flight attendant and ended up needing to take 4 months off b/c I was too freaked to fly.
Just mot ready for this movie yet
