I'd put him in a sleepsack to sleep.
This - DS's legs are in the sack so he doesn't get them stuck.

DS has had bumpers since day 1 and have never had an issue. He is 6 months old now and now that he is rolling around and moving a bunch he's still fine.

Same, both of my kids had bumpers in their crib from the day they were in it (approx 5-6 mo - until they went into a bed). My kids were both earlier rollers and early movers. Even my ped agreed - safer with the bumpers on. They can move their head by that age if they get too close to the bumper. IMO there are problems either way - you have to do what you are comfortable with. I had zero issue with the bumpers in the crib.

I think you might need to fix your breathable bumpers.
I used breathable bumpers and I tucked the bottom down below the mattress a few inches. Maybe your bumpers are not tight enough or are not tucked in if it is still happening. I stopped using sleep sacs at 4 months when my daughter started flipping over and sleeping face down in the mattress. I was afraid she would get twisted up in the sack and not be able to flip back over.

I used the breathable mesh..it was more of a hazard I felt not to have one..he kept on getting stuck..and then frustrated..At about 10 months switched to the cushion bumper..DS cuddles against it when he sleeps now at 12 months...

The babies get their legs stuck occasionally but really isn't a minor irritation compared to the risks of SIDS/suffocation, so for us... we choose not to use bumpers. We never did with our 1st either.
Ditto. Not a risk I'm willing to take.
ETA: I would definitely try using a sleep sack.

What if you weave the breathable bumpers in and out of the rails? You may have to buy an extra small length though.

The breathable bumper is in the right way , it's around very tightly, as tight as it will go and it is tucked in the mattress, but he puts his legs over the bumper and pushes it down . He is only 6 mo but very strong and already crawling , sitting up , and pulling himself up so sleep sack doesn't work any more.

Out of curiosity, why doesn't the sleep sack work anymore? My older son wore them till he was almost 2. Our 15 month old still wears them.

These are my DD's, too. They're not even 7 months doing the same thing to their breathable bumpers. I am putting in their regular bumpers now.... They can handle it.

When DS was in a crib I had bumpers for him in there. I made sure they were secure. He would bang his head and other body parts bc he was a wild sleeper.

I had bumpers but I also had that angle monitor to read her breathing. That mobile, Id probably worry about SIDS if he pushed his face up to a bumper.
