I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

I had Sadie 8 days ago (csection). I am not BFing.

I am 5'8 and weighed 157 when I got pregnant. I gained 7lbs my whole pregnancy and was 164 the day I delivered.

As of this am I weigh 138lbs. I am freaked out a bit because 26lbs in a week seems like A LOT, especially since it is so much less than I weighed before I got pregnant.

DH thinks I am worrying too much, but I am wondering if this is healthy.

Any suggestions? Or should I just shut up and count my blessings

PS.. I wont take offense if you all tell me to shut the heck up....thats what my DH has been doing LOL. Chat Icon

Count your blessing. Maybe you ate much healthier when you pregnant. So that helped out.

It's normal. I know after my C-section I lost 22 in a week. After the surgery I didn't have much appetite so between that and he pain killers I was barely eating. Be grateful, you probably look amazing! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Also, are you nursing? That uses up lots of calories.

As long as you are eating healthy you are OK. But don't forget to eat. It is so easy to forget with everything going on. You don't want to inadvertantly starve yourself because then when you do eat, you risk gaining more than you normally would when things go back to 'normal.'

You are one lucky woman!!!Chat Icon

Re: I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

it might be thyroditis, i lost like 40 pounds in 10 weeks.... its when your thyroid speads up after delivery then slows down, but if your blood work is fine i would not worry about it!!!

Re: I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

Don't worry!

I lost 22 lbs by the time I left the hospital (3 days).

Since you only gained 7 lbs, you actually "lost" weight while you were pregnant. Think about it, your baby, placenta, extra blood, etc weighed more than 7 lbs!

ETA: You're so lucky! I am still struggling with the last 10 lbs 8 months pp!

Re: I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

if you feel ok and are eating well balanced meals, than try not to worry too much..

i lost almost 20 pounds after delivery (but am still 30 lbs from my pre preggo weight) now i wish i was your size

if you continue to drop - i would call the OB b/c you may not have to go to them for a few weeks

Re: I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

I had the same thing happen!! I weighed myself 3 days after I gave birth, and I was already down 20 lbs. when I had only gained 22 lbs...

My total weight loss 2 weeks after her birth was 45 lbs. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon which I'm THRILLED about because I have 100 lbs. to lose overall...I was overweight to begin with.

Keep an eye on it, though--I know you don't have a weight problem so if you keep losing, you should definitely contact your Dr. Chat Icon

I only gained 4 lbs during my pregnancy. At my 2 week pp appt after my c-section I had lost 21 lbs. So I was 17 lbs less than I was before I got PG.

Re: I know I shouldnt be complaining but a ? re:weight

I was the same way Jen. I only gained about 10 and lost about 25-30 after all my water weight was gone. I swelled so much from the IV that I couldn't get shoes on my feet for a week, and then dropped 11 pounds overnight and everything went back to normal.
