I know this has been posted before, but how many months am I?

I found this breakdown from another post, but I'm just wondering: if I am 22 weeks, am I 6 months PG or 7? It says I am in the 6th month. So does that mean I say I'm 6 months PG, or do I have to pass that (be in the 7th month) to say I'm 6 months PG? KWIM -- if you say you're 20 years old, you're actually in your 21st year. I have no idea what to tell people. Many people, especially older ones or ones who haven't been PG don't understand "I'm 22 weeks".

First Trimester
Month one 1-4
Month two 5-8
Month three 9-13

Second Trimester
Month four 14-17
Month five 18-21
Month six 22-26

Third Trimester
Month seven 27-30
Month eight 31-35
Month nine 36-40

I *think* you are 5 months pregnant bc you have finished 5 months and are in your sixth month. In a week or so based on the breakdown you can say 5.5 months. At least this is how I always did it! Don't know why they make it so confusing!!

i would say "I am IN my 6th month". Or closer to the end of the month you can say you are 6 months. Believe it or not some people may argue about this with you and say huh? but you aren't due until...Chat Icon

Re: I know this has been posted before, but how many months am I?

Ya know, being the young one and never pg, I always was so confused how pregnant women always responded in weeks as opposed to months and I was forced to do this crazy math in my head. Now that I'm going through it, it is totally the thing to go week by week and I now get it. I don't get all that complicated when I get a confused look when I say 16 weeks, and they say so you're.... I just do the 4 weeks is a month thing so I'm 4 months. Like for you, 20 weeks makes 5 months, 2 more weeks would make 5.5 months.

If the person is that serious about tracking your pg to the day, then they can sit in the corner and figure it out for themselves! I've not had anyone really question the weeks to month thing. If so, then I get into the whole, you're technically pg for 10 months, blah blah, but not many people take it that far. Just being polite and making baby talk.

Keep it simple for the peasant people! Chat Icon

Re: I know this has been posted before, but how many months am I?

According to that chart there are more weeks in Month 3, 6, 8 &9 than in the other months??? Or I am wrong?? 40 weeks, at 4 weeks a month is really 10 months. So you can't fit 40 weeks into 9 months. It is very screwy math to call a pregnancy 9 months, KWIM? It all makes my head spin! 40 weeks is the first day of your 10th month.

Personally I think it should go like this. My mom is an L&D nurse and this is how she does it also.

I don't know though because each pregnancy book I have is different. Two of the books are different by 3 weeks for thier "monthly" lists!!

1st. Month: 1-4 (end of 4 weeks is one month)
2nd Month: 5-8 (end of 8 weeks is two months)
3rd. Month: 9-12 (end of 12 weeks is Three months)

4th Month: 13-16 (end of 16 weeks is four months)
5th Month 17-20 (end of 20 weeks is five months)
6th Month: 21-24 (end of 6 weeks is six months)

7th Month: 25-28 (end of 28 weeks is Seven months)
8th Month: 29-32 (end of 32 weeks is 8 months month)
9th Month: 33-36 (end of 36 weeks is nine months)

10 Month: 37-40 (end of 40 weeks is 10 months... so you are 9 months pregnant this whole month. Your due date is the first day of the 10th month. You have to complete the 9th month.)

So according to that... You'd be 5 1/2 months pregnant.

Does this make any sense or I am totally wrong?
