ETA: I think the swine flu vaccine is a government scam, its total BS
I was in the exam room (which is right next door to my doc's office) waiting for my doc to come in & he was speaking with his nurse & I overheard him saying the same thing to her.

I also have never taken a flu shot in my life and I'm also going absolutely nuts trying to decide whether or not to get either/both or neither of the shots
after talking to many professionals (doctors) etc, and based on my own health issues, I will most likely be getting both shots and although I not happy about it and I know myself I will probably be very nervous getting them, I think it's the right decision for me and my family

I'm not getting it and I work with preschoolers. Just wash your hands constantly. If yourgut is telling you not to I would listen!

This is what I was planning also (constant hand washing) until I found out that the flu is also spread through the air so if someone coughs or sneezes, someone else could catch it. For ME, being that I work in the city, ride the subway for almost an hour each way everyday, I think it's too much of a risk.

my my high risk doctor advised me not to get it.. so i am not going to. he also said if i never had gotten the flu shot.. dont get that either.. why mess with anything

After much deliberation, I got the H1N1 vaccine this morning (I got the regular flu shot in September).
I think assuming the government is out to get us is nutty and sounds like it is out of the book 1984 or it could be the makings of a great movie-akin to:
"Soylent Green is made out of People! It's people g*d dammit!"
(hopefully someone gets that reference )
Everyone needs to do what they are most comfortable with.
Could getting a flu shot have unknown risks for your child in years to come? Possibly, and this the reason I debated getting it.
However, my child is being born in Flu season. He has a 2 year old sister who is out in the world and two working parents and we do not live in a bubble.
The only way I can protect him from the Flu is to hopefully prevent it from coming into our home. That means we need to reduce the risk of the rest of us getting it-and part of the way we are doing that is by getting vaccinated.
For us, the real risk of the flu outweighs the possible but hopefully not likely risks of the vaccine.
Others may make a different decision, and that is fine. But a government scam for a disease that has been confirmed by the medically community (not the government or the drug companies) seems a stretch to me.

I'm torn on the regular flu shot...and am defintely not getting the H1N1 shot.
If i do decide to get the regular flu shot it will be once I'm done with my first trimester...even though my doc told me to get it now..I just wont!
