It is a Middle Eastern dip made mostly from chick peas and tahini - which is sesame paste. It's AWESOME (but I'm Israeli )

Tahini by itself is SO GOOD too!
You can buy at the supermarket - I don't really like the regular brands like Cedar's and Tribe of Two Sheiks - they taste too processed to me
THere is a brand they sell at Stop and Shop - cannot thing of the name right now but the container has a red rim around the edge - SO GOOD!!!

Edited to say - I just checked our fridge - the brand is called "Sabra Salads", with a red trim around the edge. REALLY yummy. They have a good eggplant salad too!

I love it too. Now I'll make some for lunch! Rachael Ray has a great recipe for a cannolini bean hummus that you put in a tortilla with a chopped greek salad. YUM! Nice spin on the typical hummus.
