I may be a preemie mommy-update after appt

So my saga of pregnancy from hell continues. As most know I have been having serious complications namely Hyperemesis and severe gastroparesis.
I am seeing my OB and GI specialists but so far meds are not working and I steadily losing 1-2pds week. My GI doc thinks we will most likely deliver around 34-35 weeks which is August. But after seeing my OB on Monday and he checked my BP etc I lost 2pds sicne last week visit and my BP was 95/68 which explains why I am having dizzy spells and being disoriented lately. He says that if my weight loss keeps up he will have to do the TPN line and hospitalize me. Also he will keep a close eye on our baby girl and she may be delivered as early as 30 weeks (July) if ketones become an issue. So long story short I am literally an emotional mess which is triggering me to throw up even more.

I have an appt today at Madonna fetal Maternal Medicine specilist at Mercy Hospital and I am sure another chapter will be added to my nightmare. Then its back to my OB tomorrow and he'll let me know their plan.

The good news as always is that we saw our girl on Monday and she is looking great. She had her hands by her face and was stretching.

I am really trying to stay positiive but I feel like I am gettign depressed. I am becoming withdrawn and moody even with my mom and thats not like me at all.

Update:
I saw Dr. Goldstein at Mercy and he is truely delightful. He listened to me vent and cry. He put me on a carb diet-crackers and bread with cheese and butter so I can get fats. He said that although I have lost weight I dont show signs of ketones mainly because I am getting some nutrition however when I get closer to my 3rd trimester baby will need extra calories and it will become decision time-is she going to thrive better inside or outside of the womb ?. The TPN line he expects to be the next step but since I dont have Ketones he is not going to push I get it right now as I am taking in fluids, caloric intake is secondary-however its only a matter of time that my body runs out of reserves as the baby grows and will need some type of nutrional intervention.

So we wait.

I will continue to see my doctor weekly and I will see the fetal specialists again next week and when I hit 24 weeks I start getting growth sonos. He is almost guaranteeing that I will not be a September mommy and assured me that July 4th (28 weeks) is our milestone and at that time every week she is able to stay in is an accomplishment. He also thinks I am suffering from anxiety however I cant get meds since the medication will slow down my digestion even more-grr

First, babies as early as 28 weeks have a great prognosis-my friend had twins born at 29 weeks and they are doing awesome at 14 mos. So try not to worry. I really feel for you and you may be better off with the TPN line. I'll be thinking of you and hopeing for the best.

I can't begin to imagine what you are going through right now! I will say many many prayers for you and your baby girl

If ... IF... you have to have the baby early in July/Aug, at least they know ahead of time and your Dr.'s will all be prepared. As long as she's healthy!

The most important thing is to stay positive not only for yourself but for your little girl Your Doctors sound like they are exhausting every possibility, and they are very much on top of your care.

I hope they keep her in until 34/35 weeks but even if they take her as early at 30 weeks the technology these days are so advanced that I am sure she will thrive.

I had my 1st at 32 weeks she is doing just fine (8yrs old now) you could never tell she was a preemie

I too have a complication that puts me at risk for pre-term labor and I know how scary it is.....I am a neurotic mess of a pregnant woman!!!!! I just saw my doctor on Monday and at 29 weeks he told me 28 is a huge milestone as that is when there is tremendous success!!!

Also, I have a friend at work that delivered twins at 27 weeks who are wonderful, healthy 3 year olds today and my one of my nephews was delivered at 32 weeks with same. My thoughts are with you and please FM me if you would like......

I can't believe what you have to go through. I wish there was something we could do. As always, you are in my prayers and the only thing you can do is keep your strength up. Maybe a little meditation will help??



PS-my twin nephews were born 2 lb. each and now they are a whopping 22 lb. and thriving! Preemies do beautifully these days.
