Re: I may be a preemie mommy-Prayers, hugs just make it stop
I am so sorry you are going through this. But if it makes you feel any better, a friend of ours had her baby about 12 weeks early due to complications, and today he is a happy and healthy 4 year old (actually his birthday is next week).

How much weight have you lost?
The TPN might be the answer.....
Im surprised if you have lost this much weight they wouldnt have done it already? It could be that its not massive weight loss at once. I never gained any weight , lost throughout the entire Pregnancy till recently, but its more bloodwork that matters, and growth sonos to make sure the baby is ok. My Sonos showed the baby growing fine, so they were just worried about me being hydrated and thats about it.....................You dont have to gain weight during PG..ask Katedevine, she gaiend 3 lbs and had such horrible hyperemesis and her son is perfect....
Try to have faith, the worst hardly ever happens...
That BP is not low though at all, thats average in todays terms. My normal non PG BP is much lower then that , about 80/45-48 on a daily basis, and it has gotten dangeroulsy low when dehydrated etc, but low BP is ok, it wont hurt ya...and again, that snothing to worry about.

Re: I may be a preemie mommy-Prayers, hugs just make it stop
Very true, as Donna said, my son is perfect and I made it 39 weeks and only delivered early b/c preeclampisa was in my near future and came out of no where. I lost 13lbs, gained 6lbs and then lost 3lbs the week I had Christopher.
My DH was born at 27 weeks in 1979, he was 1lb, 6ozs at birth and now is a very healthly man who is clocks in at 180lbs and is 6 feet, 3inches tall. Baby girls do better as preemies than baby boys too.
What does the doctor say about the baby? My doctor kept telling me she was sorry that I felt like poop, but the baby was fine and that was the important part.
It seems that you and your DD are fighters, just keep up the fight.

Re: I may be a preemie mommy-update after appt
I know this sounds lame BUT dont worry to much...
With my history of preterm labor and having my babies early...28 weeks is one of my milestones to get the baby too..I have done a ton of research on the subjest and although I would prefer a bit closer to term 28 weeks would do just fine by me...

My Ob was holding out since the TPN is an invasive procedure and I developed a blood clot from the central line. Its essentially his last resort. Most of my weight loss was from hyperemesis which is now under control but the gastroparesis is whats causing the gradual weight lss. I am taking in enough calories not to starve right now but when gets to the stage where she needs the extra calories to grow I may be out of my reserves. Its like a gradual leak.
As for my BP I tend to be around 112/80 consistenly but I had been complaining I was feeling "off" so when they saw the dip my Dr. figured it could be due to my lack of proper nutrition so he's "watching it. Not only am I not able to eat properly but I am not able to take my prenatals.
I was ok up until the point where they started talking baout delivering early-Hyperemesis affects us moms but babies tend to be healthy but hearing they may have to take her early means she is at risk and I am taking it in stride.

I will hope and pray that you can carry your little one for as long as possible
A friend of mine had most of the same issues you are dealing with and never had an explanation. She was losing weight dangerously fast and was hospitalized with a PIC line. She was able to deliver at the early 30 mark and her daughter spent just a little time in the hospital. She now has a beautiful 2 year old daughter at home. I can tell you since we were hospitalized at the same time things were very rough for her and through thousands of tests she never had any answers. Thankfully we happened to realize we were in the hospital together and prevented one another from going crazy.
I hope knowing her daughter is okay helps give you some peace

hopefully you won't get to the point of needing TPN, but if you do it wouldn't be the worst thing - at least you would be getting exactly what you need, and it would only be for a little while...
if it makes you feel any better, i was delivered at 30 weeks - in 1975 - and did fine (well, i like to think so, anyway ). if it came down to that, i'm sure that your little one will too.

Re: I may be a preemie mommy-update after appt
Did you just read about that woman (I think in America) that gave birth to a 19 or 21 week old baby? The baby was just brought home, doing well.

Yes. She lives in Tampa.
Anyway, that was a positive appointment. And you should be happy that you don't have ketones I had them all through my first trimester and then they came back after about 27 weeks....my doctor is west indian...maybe I just liked the way she said "ketones". I kid, I kid.
Anyway, I am not sure about that added nutrition in the third trimester, I never, ever changed my diet and I ate pretty much what you listed and I made it to 39 weeks.
I think you be happy that you have very proactive doctors and they are working with you.

Lol I had a W.I doctor and I loved hearing her talk too.
The added nutrition is because they predict the digestion to get worse as my stomach is squashed by the uterus growing so with gastroparesis patients it can cause vomiting as the undigested food is now sitting higher and being pushed into the esophagus. Heartburn from hell Dr. Goldstein said.
