You are not the only one.
I'm convinced that Stephanie Meyer found the first half of Twilight and then decided to finish it. It was actually very decent for the first part and the rest of the books get progressively worse.. like bad fan fic.
Not to mention that the relationship between the 2 main characters is horribly dysfunctional and creepy.

I read one and a half books....I finished Twilight and half of New Moon, before I couldn't take it any more.
The urge to drop kick Bella became stronger with each book

amen sister.
I found her to be so whiny and clingy, even for a 16 year old.
And Edward is just creepy.

This was probably my BIGGEST issue with the books! That particular character just gets more and more obsessed and dependent with each page. And the writer gives NO DEPTH to her feelings for this guy she is insane over. She loves Edward because he's hot.. that's it. No.. really.. that's IT? And Edward is a stalker.

I forced myself to finish the first one. Didn't see what all the hoopla was about and never read the subsequent books.

ITA!!!! Really, Bella has to be the worst role model for teenage girls out there....
I read the first 2 and refused to read any of the others or see the movies.

Everytime Bella talks about Edward it's "his beautiful marble skin", "his beautiful marble face", "his beautiful amber colored eyes".
Stephanie Meyer's editor should have provided her with a thesaurus

Re: I mean really am I the only one
I read the whole series just because I wanted to see how it would all end... but honestly it took me forever to get through. I don't understand all the hype about it at all.

Re: I mean really am I the only one
For what it's worth, I think The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins is a FANTASTIC series, with a strong central character, a story that's not predictable, and one that you won't want to put down. In my opinion, it's so much more deserving of all the attention and hype that Twilight gets than Twilight is.
I think it got stuck in Twilight's shadow, which is a real shame.

Never read them.
I do not have any interest--as I cannot see myself liking them.

I noticed that the quality of the writing definitely declined as the book went on- it was awful! I don't think they spent very much on editing!
And after that I just didn't bother with the others.

You should!! Katniss (protagonist) is the complete opposite of Bella. She's not clingy or whiny, and not once did I have the urge to kick her in the face.

Re: I mean really am I the only one
I read them all... liked the first one and liked each one less and less as I went along. By the time I was done, I wondered why I'd bothered, and the further away I get from them, the more I dislike them...

I could see that....I think it could be a better series if it just focused on Carlyle's story of how he became a vampire, and his experiences of finding everyone.
Naturally, Bella would NOT be in the story

I'm only half kidding.. some of the fan fiction out there is a mile better.

Stephen King agrees with you...he was quoted in an article as saying:
"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. ... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good."

see now, I had to read the whole series to find out what happened.
and the whole thing annoyed me. especially the way bella has her baby (i had mine the same way and it was nothing like the book described)
and i remember finishing the last one and saying "huh? that's it?" I asked a friend at work who read the whole series and is a huge fan about it. and yes, that really was the way it ended.
but i haven't seen any of the movies.
