I need Cesspool help- ASAP
I am supposed to be closing on our house tomorrow. The one thing that the sellers had to fix was the old cesspool in the backyard. It is abandoned and under the patio, but there is now a 2 ft hole there that needs to be filled. Im not taking the chance of having it collapse on me or my kids! Anyway- the didnt do it correctly- they just poured sand and dirt in the crack of the patio, of course that didnt fill an entire hole. So my question is- who fills cesspools? who can i call for an estimate- i need one ASAP! TIA Meredith

I don't know anything about cesspools (or filling them), but I wouldn't close until the issue is resolved. This should be the sellers problem, not yours. -Dennis

I agree with the above.
You need to contact your lawyer immediately. Was this negotiated as part of the contract?
I do not know where you are located but we just had Quality Cesspool of East Northport come and pump and treat ours on Monday. Sorry I don't have the number with me.
I wouldn't close until this is done. If they need to be replaced it's $$$$.

Which county are you in? The county department of health would most likely oversee that the closing of the cesspool is done correctly..

Re: I need Cesspool help- ASAP
Our old cesspool was filled by the company that installed the new one a few years ago. We had them return the following spring to add more dirt where it had settled - we had a sink hole about 18" deep and 3 feet wide - just normal settling of the dirt over the wet winter.
