I need computer help!!!!! Please!!!!!
I installed an old version of Photoshop on my computer running on Vista. Make a long story short- I uninstalled it after I kept having errors and the computer shutting itself down. I uninstalled the program and it's still happening!!!!! I tried a system restore and it was insuccessful. I am trying to avoid a system recovery. Please offer any help you can.
Should I reinstall photoshop and download any updates? I think there is one out there.
I already called Sdobe and they no longer offer any support on this old a version of Photoshop
Please help

Re: I need computer help!!!!! Please!!!!!
I had the same issue when I got my vista laptop and tried installing my old photoshop elements on it. Someone in the IT department told me that the old versions are not supported with Vista so he saved me a ton of time trying to figure out what was wrong - I finally bought the new version of photoshop elements and it works perfectly. I hope that helps.

But were all problems resolved once you uninstalled the old one? B/C I uninstalled it but I am still having the same problems

Re: I need computer help!!!!! Please!!!!!
Even when you uninstall programs, many times there are files left on the computer and in the registry. That way if you choose to reinstall, all your preferences are saved.
Doesn't really help you here, but I just thought I would explain.
My general rule of thumb is, if it existed before Vista did, I'm going to assume it's not compatible. I go to the website for the software or hardware first and search their support section for "vista compatibility".
Believe it or not, one of my work printers is not compatible with Vista and neither Microsoft or HP are willing to come out with a fix.
Which is why I don't buy Vista for work!

Interesting. Thank you. I guess I should've done my HW first before trying to install something. I had no idea a compatability issue could cause his many problems. Ugh. Sometims I hate Vista.
But thanks for the info!

You ladies seriously need to get a grip and the 411 about vista...
yes, some pieces of hardware and software don't work with vista but alot does. its a matter of checking compatiablity and perhaps knowing how to emulate windows xp installs could help.
i have been using vista a year before it came out and now i'm using windows 7 which should of been the "rushed" vista that is out today.
as to helping your problem, which verison of photoshop did you try to install? photoshop 7?
remember...a bulk of computer problems are user related

Was that directed towards me also? I thought I explained nicely the issues I've run into, and possible solutions. I know you do this for a living, but so do I, and I don't jump on the "bash Vista" bandwagon indiscriminately.
If it takes extra time or money to get a Vista machine up to speed, people aren't going to be happy about it. I don't blame them. I don't blame my bosses either for being unhappy about me spending extra time on a Vista machine than I would on an XP machine, with so many better things I could be doing. So be it.
Are there ways around a lot of it? Probably. Do I want to spend time finding them? No. I'll stick with supporting XP because it's less time consuming, compatible out of the box with all my software and hardware, and has years of fixes and service packs behind it.

No it was a general comment...please accept my apologies if you took it personally as i don't come on this site to bash people..i educate
Vista is not for everybody because people don't like change. XP is the most solid operating system since windows 98 (if you want to call that solid) people never took on the best platform Windows 2000 and that why Windows ME stunk. If you are in a business enviroment, you need to make a test machine and test your application thourly. Vista to me is more of a home/personal operating system. The business world doesn't need some of the features found in vista. You are absoultly correct. Until server 2008 comes out...you have time but in the future..i can see process getting much better with 64 bit support, taking advantage of duel, quad core processors, etc..
